  • Frame Relay and atm interworking
    IEEE Communications Magazine, 1996
    Co-Authors: Sudhir Dixit, S Elby
    Abstract:

Frame Relay has proven to be a very successful wide area networking service, and ATM is gaining momentum in the industry to become the preferred common backbone technology for supporting a wide variety of network services, including native ATM cell Relay service and Frame Relay service. In the years ahead, ATM is poised to become the dominant networking technology. Since Frame Relay and cell Relay services will coexist for a long time to come, it is imperative that the network and service interworking specifications be defined and implemented. This article focuses on the topic of Frame Relay and ATM cell Relay service and network interworking. The authors provide the rationale, the standards-based methodology, the major open issues, and a likely evolution scenario for the interworking of Frame Relay and ATM cell Relay networks and services.

    Abstract:

The following report develops the presentation of the practical skills test for the CCNP diploma course in deepening, in which it is necessary to address and know the importance of the course as a way of learning about the routing process and advanced configuration using switches, to segment the network through VLANs to send packets to the destination network through connected equipment and through layer 2 and layer 3 respectively through the two scenarios proposed. This advanced course enables students to install, configure and operate LANs, WANs, and to provide dial-up access services to organizations that have networks from 100 to 500 nodes with protocols and technologies such as TCP / IP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP , ISDN, Frame Relay, STP and VTP over 2 courses: Advanced Route (CCNP ROUTE R & Sv7) and Advanced Switch (CCNP SWITCH R & S v7.1

  • local remote forwarding decision in switched data link subnetworks
"Local Remote" Forwarding Decision in Switched Data Link Subnetworks, 1996
    Co-Authors: Y. Rekhter, D. Kandlur
    Abstract:

The IP architecture assumes that each Data Link subnetwork is labeled with a single IP subnet number. A pair of hosts with the same subnet number communicate directly (with no routers); a pair of hosts with different subnet numbers always communicate through one or more routers. As indicated in RFC1620, these assumptions may be too restrictive for large data networks, and specifically for networks based on switched virtual circuit (SVC) based technologies (e.g. ATM, Frame Relay, X.25), as these assumptions impose constraints on communication among hosts and routers through a network. The restrictions may preclude full utilization of the capabilities provided by the underlying SVC-based Data Link subnetwork. This document describes extensions to the IP architecture that relaxes these constraints, thus enabling the full utilization of the services provided by SVC-based Data Link subnetworks.

    Abstract:

The work contains information on the two Cisco modules: CCNP R&S route and CCNP R&S switch, which were developed during the course of the diploma course; the themes of these modules are represented by solving three scenarios, simulating in the program Cisco Packet Tracer version 7.2.1 that should be solved in this work. That is why the technology of devices oriented to the design of scalable and switching networks, it’s the best and most used option today, although it requires the necessary skills to plan, implement, secure, and maintain converged business networks, allowing improving processes related to information management, also network knowledge Anyone who wants to learn and study how to install, configure and operate local networks and in wide areas, using protocols and technologies such as TCP / IP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ISDN, Frame Relay, STP and VTP, Advanced Route, and Advanced Switch, you acquire it through this CCNP diploma. In an orderly manner, each of the commands with its respective function of the process is disclosed, in this way each configuration is understood and the reader can acquire the knowledge given. Keywords: CCNP R&S route, CCNP R&S switch, Cisco Packet Tracer, TCP / IP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ISDN, Frame Relay, STP, VTP, networking, Advanced Route
