  • Study on Performance Evaluation of Green Supply Chain in Steel Industry
Proceedings of the International Conference on Logistics Engineering Management and Computer Science, 2015
    Co-Authors: Na Liu
    Abstract:

The production of steel industry is closely related to integration and promotion of Supply Chain. Reducing cost and reusing wastes of the Supply Chain are one of the most significant challenges the steel enterprises need to overcome. Nowadays, Green Supply Chain for the steel industry appears to be a wide open research area with no definitive solution yet. This paper provides a performance evaluation system of Green Supply Chain, and the system is applied to a study on a steel enterprise where the performance of Green Supply Chain is evaluated. At first, the paper analyzes the influencing factors of the performance on Green Supply Chain of Chinese steel enterprises. On the basis of these factors, researchers construct a model for evaluation of performance on Green Supply Chain, which covers the important indices in the economy, operation, and environment aspects. Finally, this paper provides the steel industry with some suggestions in using the Green Supply Chain, which can further benefit the Chinese steel enterprises in adjusting their Supply Chain. • Performance evaluation of Green Supply Chain in manufacturing industry
Proceedings of 2013 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics and Informatics, 2013
    Co-Authors: Na Liu
    Abstract:

To promote manufacturers to adopt Green Supply Chain, we propose in this paper a model for evaluating the performance of Green Supply Chain, which covers three important indicators on finance, operation, and environment. We also adopt AHP and Fuzzy comprehensive evaluation approaches to evaluating the model, and apply this model to a practical manufacturer to verify its feasibility and effectiveness. The results show that the model can provide manufacturers with both theoretical and practical guidance about the use of Green Supply Chain.

  • a literature review on Green Supply Chain management trends and future challenges
    Resources Conservation and Recycling, 2019
Co-Authors: Minglang Tseng, Shamimul Islam, Noorliza Karia, Firdaus Ahmad Fauzi, Samina Afrin
    Abstract:

Abstract This study aims to review the literature in Green Supply Chain management (GSCM) published from 1998 to 2017 and presenting insights and directions for future research. The study collects data from Scopus and ISI Web of Science databases and objectively selects 880 papers and conducts metadata analysis. In addtion, 236 papers from ISI Web of Science is analyzed to present the insights along with the classifications of the literatures based on content analyses, which comprises of conceptual development, drivers and barriers, collaboration with Supply Chain partners, mathematical and other optimization models, and assessment of Green Supply Chain management practices and performance. The study finds that research on drivers or barriers analysis of Green Supply Chain management reveals a declining trend while there is a growing trend of applying mathematical optimization models for enhancing decision making in pursuit of environmental performance. Moreover, the study finds a consistent growth in the evaluation of Green Supply Chain management practices and performance. Though, the concept of Green Supply Chain management started gaining popularity among academicians from the beginning of the 20th century, this study finds a sharp growth of publications on the topic after 2010 until now. This study identifies influential authors, top journals, top contributing countries, top contributing institutions and contribution by disciplines. This study presents a comprehensive but straightforward conceptual model of Green Supply Chain management. The findings and future research directions of the study offers a new avenue for further exploration and contribution to this discipline.

  • A review on Green Supply Chain aspects and practices
    Management and Marketing, 2017
Co-Authors: Shamimul Islam, Noorliza Karia, Firdaus Ahmad Fauzi, Mohamed Soliman
    Abstract:

The field of Green Supply Chain is expanding rapidly, and new authors are venturing in this field to conduct further research. Although some literature reviews have beeen conducted over time, a complete list of Green Supply Chain practices is not available. Hence, the objective of this study is to present an up-to-date list of Green Supply Chain practices. To achieve this, the study employed structured review process, as well as critically examined the contents to ensure that the data are filtered from high-quality peer-reviewed journals and from influential authors in this field. 91 high-quality papers were selected from top ten journals in GSCM area to produce the list. A total of 58 Green Supply Chain practices comprising 15 aspects were featured, e.g. reverse logistics, industrial symbiosis, Green information technology, Green design, carbon management etc. This paper contributes to the existing literature by providing a comprehensive list of aspects and practices of the Green Supply Chain. Finally, limitations and directions for future studies are provided in the conclusion section.

  • Developing performance management systems for the Green Supply Chain
    Journal of Remanufacturing, 2014
Co-Authors: Michael Mutingi, Herbert Mapfaira, Robert Monageng
    Abstract:

As ‘Green’ issues continue to become a global concern in the manufacturing Supply Chain, developing appropriate performance measurement systems for specific Supply Chains is imperative. Various Green Supply Chain management strategies have been proposed in different contexts. On the other hand, a number of performance management systems (PMS) have been proposed. However, given the variations in the contexts of the available Green strategies and the performance measurement approaches, selecting or developing suitable performance measures and the ensuing PMS under a given Supply Chain context is not trivial. The purpose of this study is to develop a structured taxonomic approach to developing PMS under various Green Supply Chain conditions, contexts, and business objectives. Therefore, we (i) explore extant empirical studies on Green Supply Chain activities and environmental management, (ii) develop a taxonomy of Green Supply Chain strategies, (iii) derive a structured approach to developing Green performance management systems, and (iv) provide a taxonomic performance measurement framework consisting of environmental, economic, and social performance metrics. Unlike past studies, the taxonomic framework forms a practical platform to assist decision makers when developing a suitable set of performance measures and the ultimate PMS while considering the particular context of specific Green strategies under which the PMS is supposed to operate.

  • developing Green Supply Chain management strategies a taxonomic approach
Journal of Industrial Engineering and Management, 2013
    Co-Authors: Michael Mutingi
    Abstract:

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to explore the empirical Green Supply Chain activities found in the literature, and to develop a taxonomic framework that can be used for formulating appropriate strategies for Green Supply Chains based on characteristic dimensions for the Green Supply Chain. Design/methodology/approach: The taxonomic framework is developed through (i) analysis of Green Supply Chain activities found in existing empirical work or case studies recorded in the literature, (ii) identification of key dimensions that influence Green Supply Chain management strategies, and (iii) development of a taxonomic scheme for selecting or developing Green strategies. Findings: The paper finds that this study yielded a set of three characteristic dimensions that influence strategic Green Supply Chain management, and a guided structured approach for selecting appropriate Green strategies, providing useful managerial insights.

  • A taxonomic framework for formulating strategies in Green Supply Chain management
    2012
    Co-Authors: Michael Mutingi, Charles Mbohwa
    Abstract:

This paper addresses the increasingly important question of formulating appropriate strategies for Green Supply Chain management. Due to increasing attention to Green strategies and their impact on the natural environment, the development of a taxonomic framework for selecting appropriate strategies is imperative. In this study, we develop a taxonomic framework for formulating strategies for Green Supply Chains based on characteristic Green Supply Chain dimensions. The practical implication of this work is that the choice of Green Supply Chain strategy impacts environmental and operations performance. The framework developed can be used as a tool for developing Green Supply Chain management strategies, providing sound managerial insights.
