  • market competition Green Technology progress and comparative advantages in china
    Management Decision, 2018
    Co-Authors: Malin Song, Shuhong Wang
    Abstract:

Purpose Technical progress is an important technique within improving China’s comparative advantages, as new and renewable technologies will be beneficial for energy security. Productive technical progress and Green technical innovation are necessary to improve working conditions and productivity of industries. Therefore, the propose of this paper is to study technical progress in China under such harsh competitive circumstances, as well as types of technical progress that can be promoted, productive technical progress or Green Technology progress, and how technical progress will affect China’s competitive advantages. Design/methodology/approach Performing a Multi-index Multi-factor Constitutive model based on a sample of 468 Chinese industries, and divides the industries into 4 categories. Findings-Results indicate that there is a “U-shape” relationship between Green Technology progress and comparative advantages and an inverted “U”-shape relationship between the intensity of market competition and compa...

  • Opening up, international trade, and Green Technology progress
    Journal of Cleaner Production, 2017
    Co-Authors: Shuhong Wang
    Abstract:

Abstract Green Technology progress refers to the advancement of the energy-saving Technology based on input factors. China's opening up policy plays an increasingly important role in its economic growth. Therefore, this study verifies the influence of opening up on the country's Green Technology progress. This study sets up a 2 × 2 × 2 Green Technology progress model with two countries (a developed country and a developing country), two goods (cleaner goods and dirty goods), and two factors (labor and capital) to analyze theoretically the influence of trade on Green Technology; thereafter, four propositions are developed. A method for measuring Green Technology progress based on inputs is developed and alternative measurement models are introduced to test the correctness of the four propositions. Since the coefficient on import trade, a key index, does not yield significant results, this study concludes that international trade affects Green Technology progress by changing the labor-capital ratio, as well as the research and development (R&D) cost. This study further uses this deduction to examine countries characterized by different development levels. Our final goodness-of-fit results are satisfactory. This study concludes that China can develop its domestic economy through exports, but must enhance the supervision of exporting enterprises. In addition, imports from developed countries seem to be able to improve China's Green Technology and, most importantly, its ability to innovate and cultivate talent.

  • towards a Green world how do Green Technology innovations affect total factor carbon productivity
    Energy Policy, 2019
    Co-Authors: Kerui Du, Jianglong Li
    Abstract:

Abstract Alleviating global climate change requires the development and adoption of Green Technology innovations. Particularly, the sustained economic growth requires Green Technology innovations in promoting carbon productivity, which is one of the central issues in raising standards of livings without detrimental consequences for global warming. However, the precise impacts of Green Technology innovations on carbon productivity are still unknown. Here we show that Green Technology innovations can only take effects for economies with high income, and it is difficult to find significant evidence that Green Technology innovations positively impact carbon productivity in less developed economies. The findings are quite robust using various alternative model specifications. Furthermore, our results demonstrate the importance of clarifying between development and adoption of Green Technology innovations. We propose that policy and public intention to raising living standard rather than environment, as well as lacking complementary supporting from other related innovations, represent barriers to adopt Green Technology innovations in less developed economies. In such countries, we anticipate our paper to attract attention to substantial upgrading of technologies by adopting Green Technology innovations in their new investments. The findings in this paper also highlight policies for encouraging worldwide Green Technology cooperation, such as accelerating Green Technology transfer across economies.

  • Study on the subject system of Green Technology Innovation
Studies in Science of Science, 2020
    Co-Authors: Li Ping
    Abstract:

Enterprises have their own limitation as the only one subject in the process of Green Technology innovation which is proved by the exterior economic problem existing in that process of enterprises. From the view of the social shaping of Technology (SST), Green Technology innovation is a social process involving the participation of relevant social groups. So a new analytical framework on the subject system of Green Technology innovation is proposed with the participation of relevant social groups such as the government, st research institutes and the public. The joint function of social groups with enterprises is emphasized so as to solve the exterior economic problem and to realize the sustainable development.

  • Green Technology for Disaster Relief and Remote Areas, Paper ID #10192
    121st ASEE Annual Conference & Exposition, 2014
    Co-Authors: Salahuddin Qazi, Farhan Qazi
    Abstract:

natural disaster can happen at any time anywhere: hurricanes, cyclones tornadoes, earthquakes, flooding. Electrical power usually first critically important service to be lost affecting homes, hospitals, schools, food stores and other vital services, in the aftermath of disasters photovoltaic energy (solar electric) has the potential to help bring natural reliable poewr to places devastated by these events. Photovoltaic power is an example of Green Technology which provide emission free electricity fueled by the sun which is reliable, secure, noise free and does not need refueling. New trend in disaster relief is to mount PV systems on trailers, move the energy supply to wherever it is needed and redeploy as necessary. Mobile PV power systems are stand-alone systems which have been deployed to provide electricity to power radio stations, helath clinics, shelters and homes at the disaster sites before utility electricity is restored. Review mobile photovoltaic system to provide electricity in aftermath of disasters for emergency relief and for disaster resilience in community solar microgrid.
