    Abstract:

    The quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) cultivation, one of the most promising in double cropping with soybeans or maize, depends on weed control. The objective of this work was to evaluate quinoa reaction to Herbicide Residue in a savannah soil. Six Herbicide treatments, trifluralin, pendimethalin, clomazone, imazaquin, trifluralin + imazaquin and control, were applied, prior to summer cultivation of soybean, in a Dark-Red Latosol (typic Haplustox). Soybean cultivar BR 9 Savana was grown and soil samples were collected at 15, 38, 100, 145 and 206 days after treatment and stored at -5oC. Bioassays were conducted in greenhouse, using quinoa, cultivar Q18. Imazaquin was the most harmful to quinoa seedlings, up to 206 days after application, followed by clomazone 15-38 days after application; trifluralin and pendimethalin had no residual effect. These results suggest that a broad-base screening should be conducted.

    Abstract The transplanted puddled rice (TPR) followed by (∼fb) conventional till wheat (CTW) system (TPR-CTW) in the Indo-Gangetic Plains (IGP) of India is the most remunerative cropping system, serving as the backbone of food security of India. Its sustainability, however, is threatened due to degradation/ scarcity of resources (soil, water, fuel/energy, labour), low inputs-use efficiencies, insurgence/resistance of new weeds/pests, and high pesticides use, and greenhouse gases (GHGs) emissions and global warming. Direct-seeded rice (DSR) can save resources, improve soil conditions, reduce GHGs emissions, and can reverse the declining trends. The performance of DSR, however, is largely influenced by weeds and nematodes. Therefore, this experiment was undertaken to evaluate the impacts of conservation agriculture (CA)-inclusive DSR, supplemented with Herbicides/weed control measures on weeds, nematodes, and rice productivity and profitability. Results showed that the DSR fb ZTW had 82 % higher weed densities at 45 days after sowing (DAS) than TPR-CTW. The DSR fb ZTW, and DSR + brown manuring (BM) fb ZTW systems resulted in significantly higher parasitic nematodes, namely, Tylenchorhynchus brevilineatus Williams, Meloidogyne graminicola Golden & Birchfield, Pratylenchus thornei Sher & Allen than TPR-CTW. The CA-based triple cropping system with Residue [∼DSR with mungbean Residue (MR) fb ZTW with rice Residue (RR) fb ZT mungbean (ZTMB) with wheat Residue (WR)] led to considerable reduction of these nematodes. It gave similar rice yield with TPR-ZTW and TPR-CTW, and 40–43 % higher yield than DSR-ZTW. Pendimethalin 1.5 kg ha−1 at pre-emergence fb bispyribac-Na 25 g ha-1 at post-emergence and hand weeding (HW) at 35 DAS offered better weed control, higher rice yield (by 123–130 %), net returns (by 327–806 %) and net benefit:cost. The above CA-based triple cropping system with pendimethalin + bispyribac + HW would lead to an effective weed management in DSR without the risk of residual toxicities of pendimethalin and bispyribac-Na to crops grown in sequence. This can serve as an alternative to TPR in the Indian IGP, and in similar agro-ecologies. Controlling weeds using these Herbicides may suppress nematodes and reduce the cost of nematodes control.

    This work provides a simple and rapid method for synthesis uniform simetryn imprinted nanoparticles, which can be used to pretreat the tested samples before detecting. A series of computational approach were employed for design simetryn-imprinted polymer. Based on the conclusion of theoretical calculation, the simetryn imprinted nanoparticles were synthesized using simetryn as template, methacrylic acid as monomer with different solvent volume and synthesis conditions. The obtained nanoparticles have small size, uniform distribution and high imprinted factor. Scatchard analysis and quantum chemical calculations were applied for evaluating the interaction of simetryn with methacrylic acid in the imprinting process. The selectivity and recognition ability of the simetryn imprinted nanoparticles for six triazine Herbicides and two other type Herbicides were investigated. The results show that the simetryn imprinted nanoparticles had high selectivity and binding capacity and could be used for the separation and enrichment of four triazine pesticide Residues from actual samples. A method of molecularly imprinted matrix solid phase extraction ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry was established for detecting four kinds of triazine Herbicide Residues in tobacco. The recovery rate of terbuthylazine, simetryn, atrazine, and prometryn in tobacco was 84.03-119.05%, and the relative standard deviation was 0.35-10.12%.

    Abstract A simple selective spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of glyphosate Herbicide in environmental and biological samples. Glyphosate was reacted with carbon disulphide to form dithiocarbamic acid which was further followed for complex formation with copper in the presence of ammonia. The absorbance of the resulting yellow coloured copper dithiocarbamate complex was measured at 435 nm with molar absorptivity of 1.864 × 10 3  L mol −1  cm −1 .The analytical parameters were optimized and Beer's law was obeyed in the range of 1.0–70 μg mL −1 . The composition ratio of the complex was glyphosate: copper (2:1) as established by Job's method with a formation constant of 1.06 × 10 5 . Glyphosate was satisfactorily determined with limit of detection and quantification of 1.1 and 3.7 μg mL −1 , respectively. The investigated method was applied successfully to the environmental samples. Recovery values in soil, wheat grains and water samples were found to be 80.0 ± 0.46 to 87.0 ± 0.28%, 95.0 ± 0.88 to 102.0 ± 0.98% and 85.0 ± 0.68 to 92.0 ± 0.37%, respectively.
