Synthesis, crystal structures and dye removal properties of a series of metal-organic frameworks based on N-Heterocyclic Carboxylic Acid ligands

The X-ray diffraction analysis show that the complexes 1 and 2 exhibited a two interpenetrating (3, 6, 6)-connected framework with a Schlafli symbol of (4·62)2 (42·610·83) topology. The complexes 3 and 4 show a two interpenetrating (3, 6)-connected net with (611·84) (63)2 topology. The complex 5 shows a (3, 8)-connected network with a point symbol of (4·62)2 (42·615·78·8·92) topology. The complex 6 exists a 2-fold interpenetrating topology framework and the point symbol is (6·6·6). Moreover, the photocatalytic studies show that complexes 1–5 have highly photocatalytic ability to degrade methylene blue (MB). In addition, the complex 6 can efficiently adsorb Congo red through H-bonds and the adsorption kinetic have been discussed.

New Journal of Chemistry, 2018Co-Authors: Ziao Zong, Zheng Zhu, Chuanbin Fan, Xiangmin Meng, Xia Zhang, Yuhua FanAbstract:Two novel luminescent coordination polymers, namely, {[Zn(tmlb)(H2tmlb)]·H2O}n (1) and [Zn(tmlb)(bbibp)]n (2) ((bbibp = bis(benzoimidazo-1-ly)biphenyl), H2tmlb = (1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methylenebis(benzoic Acid)), have been rationally designed and successfully solvothermally synthesized. Complexes 1 and 2 have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric (TG) analysis and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). Complex 1 possesses a 2-fold interpenetrating 3-connected 3D framework with a point symbol of (63) topology. Complex 2 exhibits a two-fold interpenetrating uninodal 4-connected 3D framework with a (65·8) topology. The luminescence studies reveal that complexes 1 and 2 display highly sensitive and selective luminescent sensing towards Cr(VI) (CrO42− and Cr2O72−) anions, and complex 2 displays highly sensitive and selective luminescence sensing towards Fe(III) cations. In addition, photocatalytic studies show that complex 1 could be a good candidate for the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB), and complex 2 could be a good candidate for the photocatalytic degradation of methylene violet (MV) and Rhodamine B (RhB).

Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 2019Co-Authors: Jinfang Liang, Jinxia Liang, Lijun Zhai, Xiaoyan Niu, Jie ZhangAbstract:Abstract Based on a mixed-ligand strategy, three new coordination polymers (CPs), namely {[Zn2(TZMB)2(bim)]·2DMA·EtOH}n (1), {[Zn2(TZMB)2(4,4′-bibp)·2DMA·EtOH]}n (2), and {[Cd(TZMB)(bbibp)] DMA·EtOH}n (3), (bim = benzimidazole, 4,4′-bipb = 4,4′-bis(pyrid-4-ly)biphenyl, bbibp = 4,4′-bis(benzoimidazo-1-ly)biphenyl, DMA = N, N-dimethylacetamide), have been successfully synthesized by the reaction of 4,4'-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methylenebis (benzonic Acid) (H2TZMB) and Zn(II)/Cd(II) under the solvothermal methods. The structural analyses indicate that 1 displays 2-nodal (3,4)-c 3D framework with a {63}{65.8} topology, 2 exhibits a rare 1D + 1D → 3D framework with the same topology as 1, and 3 is a 3D supramolecular framework obtained by π … π stacking interaction between the adjacent 2D layers with the topology of {65.8}. Furthermore, the luminescent experiments indicate that 1 and 2 exhibit high sensitivity and selective detection towards Fe3+ ions with the low detection limit of 7.15 × 10−4 M−1 and 2.56 × 10−4 M−1, respectively. Gas adsorption behaviors show the adsorption amounts of 3a for CO2 advantage over those of CH4 and N2. The selectivities of 3a for CO2/CH4 were estimated by the ideal adsorbed solution theory (IAST), which are 4.78 for land fill gas (CO2:CH4 = 0.50:0.50) and 1.39 for natural gas (CO2:CH4 = 0.05:0.95), respectively. Finally, the luminescent quenching mechanisms are also discussed in detail.

Structural analyses reveal that 1 is a 2D (3,6)-connected {43}2{46·66·83} net based on binuclear {Cd2(COO)4} SBUs. The 2D structure of 2 exhibits a uninodal 4-connected net with the point symbol of {44·62}. 3 shows a 3D (3,5)-connected net with the point symbol of {4·6·8}{4·64·85}. 4 presents a 3D (4,6)-connected net based on binuclear {Ni2(COO)2(μ2-H2O)} SBUs with the point symbol of {3·4·53·6}{32·42·55·65·7}. 5 indicates a 3D 3-nodal (3,4,7)-connected net with 1D rod-like {Mn2(COO)4}n SBUs with the point symbol of {42·6}{44·62}{46·69·86}. Luminescence properties of 1 and 2 demonstrate that they have potential applications in luminescence sensing for NACs and Fe3+ ions, and then luminescence quenching mechanisms were systematically investigated. Furthermore, magnetic measurements of 3–5 indicate that there exist ferromagnetic interactions between adjacent Ni(II) ions in 3 and 4 and antiferromagnetic interaction between adjacent Mn(II) ions in 5.

Luminescent and magnetic properties of two novel coordination polymers based on N-Heterocyclic Carboxylic Acid
Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 2019Co-Authors: Jie Zhang, Lijun Zhai, Lingling Gao, Yang Wang, Xiaoqing Wang, Xiaoyan NiuAbstract:Abstract Two novel coordination polymers (CPs), namely {[Cd(TZMB)(1,4-bimb)0.5]·2.5H2O} (1) and {[Co(TZMB)(4,4′-bpy)0.5(μ2-H2O)(DMA)0.5(H2O)]·5DMA}n (2) (H2TZMB = 4,4’-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methylene-bis(benzonic Acid), 1,4-bimb = 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benene, 4,4′-bpy = 4,4-bipyridine) have been synthesized under the solvothermal method and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, IR spectra analyses (IR), elemental analyses (EA), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and thermogravimetric (TG) analysis. Single X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that CPs 1 and 2 are 3D frameworks. Furthermore, luminescent measurements showed that 1 has high sensing selectivity for NACs and Fe3+ ions. In addition, the magnetic measurements indicated that 2 exhibits antiferromagnetic interactions between Co ions within the binuclear {Co2(COO)2(μ2-H2O} SBUs.

Luminescence properties of 1 and 2 demonstrate that they have potential applications in luminescence sensing for NACs and Fe3+ ions, and then luminescence quenching mechanisms were systematically investigated. Furthermore, magnetic measurements of 3–5 indicate that there exist ferromagnetic interactions between adjacent Ni(II) ions in 3 and 4 and antiferromagnetic interaction between adjacent Mn(II) ions in 5.

Luminescent and magnetic properties of two novel coordination polymers based on N-Heterocyclic Carboxylic Acid
Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 2019Co-Authors: Jie Zhang, Lijun Zhai, Lingling Gao, Yang Wang, Xiaoqing Wang, Xiaoyan NiuAbstract:Abstract Two novel coordination polymers (CPs), namely {[Cd(TZMB)(1,4-bimb)0.5]·2.5H2O} (1) and {[Co(TZMB)(4,4′-bpy)0.5(μ2-H2O)(DMA)0.5(H2O)]·5DMA}n (2) (H2TZMB = 4,4’-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methylene-bis(benzonic Acid), 1,4-bimb = 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benene, 4,4′-bpy = 4,4-bipyridine) have been synthesized under the solvothermal method and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, IR spectra analyses (IR), elemental analyses (EA), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and thermogravimetric (TG) analysis. Single X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that CPs 1 and 2 are 3D frameworks. Furthermore, luminescent measurements showed that 1 has high sensing selectivity for NACs and Fe3+ ions. In addition, the magnetic measurements indicated that 2 exhibits antiferromagnetic interactions between Co ions within the binuclear {Co2(COO)2(μ2-H2O} SBUs.
