  • Implementation of Hierarchical Task Analysis for User Interface Design in Drawing Application for Early Childhood Education
Journal of Education and Learning (EduLearn), 2016
Co-Authors: Mira Kania Sabariah, Veronikha Effendy, Muhamad Fachmi Ichsan
    Abstract:

Draw learning in early childhood is an important lesson and full of stimulation of the process of growth and development of children which could help to train the fine motor skills. We have had a lot of applications that can be used to perform learning, including interactive learning applications. Referring to the observations that have been conducted showed that the experiences given by the applications that exist today are very diverse and have not been able to represent the model of learning and characteristics of early childhood (4-6 years). Based on the results, Hierarchical Task Analysis method generated a list of Tasks that must be done in designing an user interface that represents the user experience in draw learning. Then by using the Heuristic Evaluation method the usability of the model has fulfilled a very good level of understanding and also it can be enhanced and produce a better model.

  • pemodelan user experience aplikasi media interaktif pengenalan menggambar untuk pendidikan anak usia dini menggunakan metode Hierarchical Task Analysis
    eProceedings of Engineering, 2015
Co-Authors: Muhamad Fachmi Ichsan, Mira Kania Sabariah, Veronikha Effendy
    Abstract:

  • Practical application of Hierarchical Task Analysis and cognitive work Analysis in a surgical training system design
    Zeitschrift für Arbeitswissenschaft, 2019
    Co-Authors: Carolyn Mattes-o’brien, Marino Menozzi
    Abstract:

Hierarchical Task Analysis (HTA) and cognitive work Analysis (CWA) were applied to laparoscopic surgery to identify critical technical, cognitive, and social challenges. Our purpose was to understand the complexity of laparoscopy and use this knowledge to develop a surgical training system. Five laparoscopic procedures were analyzed using the HTA methodology, while generic laparoscopic approaches were analyzed by applying the five phases of the CWA framework. The results from these analyses were applied to a surgical training system. The focus was on the application of partial-Task training to areas that could be more technically challenging. Additionally, practical, social, and cognitive training aspects were included into the training system, based on our findings from the analyses. Practical Relevance: The use of digital training systems is becoming increasingly important in complex work systems, especially when it comes to simulations that can have serious consequences in reality. This paper presents the development of a surgical training system.

  • a Hierarchical Task Analysis of cricothyroidotomy procedure for a virtual airway skills trainer simulator
    American Journal of Surgery, 2016
Co-Authors: Doga Demirel, Ganesh Sankaranarayanan, Caroline G L Cao, Kathryn L Butler, Tansel Halic, David Spindler, Emil Petrusa, Marcos Molina, Daniel B Jones, Suvranu De
    Abstract:

Abstract Background Despite the critical importance of cricothyroidotomy (CCT) for patient in extremis, clinical experience with CCT is infrequent, and current training tools are inadequate. The long-term goal is to develop a virtual airway skills trainer that requires a thorough Task Analysis to determine the critical procedural steps, learning metrics, and parameters for assessment. Methods Hierarchical Task Analysis is performed to describe major Tasks and subTasks for CCT. A rubric for performance scoring for each Task was derived, and possible operative errors were identified. Results Time series analyses for 7 CCT videos were performed with 3 different observers. According to Pearson's correlation tests, 3 of the 7 major Tasks had a strong correlation between their Task times and performance scores. Conclusions The Task Analysis forms the core of a proposed virtual CCT simulator, and highlights links between performance time and accuracy when teaching individual surgical steps of the procedure.

  • Hierarchical Task Analysis of hybrid rigid scope natural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery notes cholecystectomy procedures
Studies in health technology and informatics, 2013
Co-Authors: Arun Nemani, Ganesh Sankaranarayanan, Kurt E Roberts, Lucian Panait, Caroline G L Cao
    Abstract:

This study shows Task Analysis results for the suturing Task in the hybrid rigid scope Natural Orifice Translumenal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) cholecystectomy procedure. A Hierarchical Task Analysis tree was constructed from the video recordings of the NOTES procedure and time Analysis for the suturing subTask was performed. Results indicate that the "Pull Suture Through" subTask requires the greatest time (25.4 sec) and the "Re-bite" subTask had the highest variation (6.6 sec). Intra-rater reliability test (k = 0.68) also showed consistency of the results obtained from the video motion Analysis.
