Geological Review, 2009Co-Authors: Wang RuifeiAbstract:Through the Reservoir description on Chang 4+5 Reservoir group of the Upper Triassic Yanchang Formation in the Jiyuan oil field, Ordos Basin, it is pointed out that micro crack is of great importance to increase the permeability and the development level of super-low permeability Reservoir. The research shows that the density of the micro crack is 7.86 strips/cm, its width is 3.70μm, its space is 1.2723mm, its porosity is 0.29%, its permeability is 3.32×10-3μm2. The storage ability of micro crack is 2.74% to that of matrix, and its permeability ability is 12.15 multiple to that of matrix. The existence of relatively high permeability Reservoir lies in the difference and heterogeneity of the distribution of micro crack in super-low permeability Reservoir. The growth and the distribution of micro crack resulted from the mutual actions between multiple periods palaeotectonic stress fields and the present based on microfacies belt and basement fault. It's possible to improve the success ratio in the oil and gas exploration if the aim is focused on to find favorable sedimentary facies, diagenetic facies and micro-fracture ribbon.

By the assessment performance parameter (E), the product of ejection efficiency (EW) and ejection saturation (SE), the characteristics of micro-pore structures were classified in three areas of Yanchang Formation in Odors Basin. The classified results coincide with the production characteristics. Based on the extent of ejection, it is considered that the efficiency can be improved by increasing the pressure difference in the medium-high permeability Reservoir, and that the low-velocity water injection should be maintained in the ultra-low permeability sandstone Reservoir so as to raise its exploitation effect.

Water Shutoff Mechanism Research of Lime Cream Profile Control Agent and Its Application

Seismic Response to Injection Well Stimulation in a High‐Temperature, High‐Permeability Reservoir

Fluid injection into the Earth's crust can induce seismic events that cause damage to local infrastructure but also offer valuable insight into seismogenesis. The factors that influence the magnitude, location, and number of induced events remain poorly understood but include injection flow rate and pressure as well as Reservoir temperature and permeability. The relationship between injection parameters and injection-induced seismicity in high-temperature, High-Permeability Reservoirs has not been extensively studied. Here we focus on the Ngatamariki geothermal field in the central Taupō Volcanic Zone, New Zealand, where three stimulation/injection tests have occurred since 2012. We present a catalog of seismicity from 2012 to 2015 created using a matched-filter detection technique. We analyze the stress state in the Reservoir during the injection tests from first motion-derived focal mechanisms, yielding an average direction of maximum horizontal compressive stress (SHmax) consistent with the regional NE-SW trend. However, there is significant variation in the direction of maximum compressive stress (σ1), which may reflect geological differences between wells. We use the ratio of injection flow rate to overpressure, referred to as injectivity index, as a proxy for near-well permeability and compare changes in injectivity index to spatiotemporal characteristics of seismicity accompanying each test. Observed increases in injectivity index are generally poorly correlated with seismicity, suggesting that the locations of microearthquakes are not coincident with the zone of stimulation (i.e., increased permeability). Our findings augment a growing body of work suggesting that aseismic opening or slip, rather than seismic shear, is the active process driving well stimulation in many environments.

Characteristics and control factor of the relatively high permeabili-ty Reservoir in the low permeability oil gas pool:A case study of Chang 101 oil layer of upper Triassic Yanchang Formation in Zhidan area, Ordos Basin

A new oil-bearing layer, i.e., Chang101 oil layer of Triassic Yanchang Formation, was found in Zhidan area of Ordos Basin in 2007. It has been proved by practice that the study area has a good exploration prospect. Based on core observation and all kinds of analytical means, such as cast thin sections, physical properties, X-ray diffraction, SEM and capillary pressure curve, the authors studied the characteristics of the relatively high permeability Reservoir and its control factors. The results show that the relatively high permeability Reservoirs are made of medium-coarse or medium feldspar sandstones which have relatively high compositional maturity. The ce-ments are mainly chlorite film and laumontite, and the diagenesis mainly finds expression in secondary dissolution. Pore types are so-lution opening and inter-granular opening. Feldspar solution opening and laumontite solution opening constitute the main types of solution opening. The factors controlling the relatively high permeability Reservoir are delta distributary channel microfacies which control the Reservoir distribution and its primary material. The chlorite film is favorable for the preservation of primary inter-granular pore, whereas the secondary dissolution of feldspar and laumontite seems to be the key to improving the Reservoir property.
