dialogue as a pressuposition in the Humanistic nursing Theory relationship mother nurse newborn
Revista Da Escola De Enfermagem Da Usp, 2008Co-Authors: Ingrid Martins Leite Lucio, Lorita Marlena Freitag Pagliuca, Maria Vera Lucia Moreira Leitao CardosoAbstract:This is a critical-reflective study carried out in 2005 aiming at analyzing dialogue as a presupposition in Peterson and Zderad's Humanistic Theory. Using as a starting point two Master's degree theses, the authors adopted the Meleis Model of Analysis, in the scope of Theory description, focusing on the unit of analysis named Theory presuppositions. The authors clearly perceive the quest for and the construction of the dialogue in the stages of the Theory's methodological process: Preparation in order to get to know, Knowing the other intuitively, Knowing the other scientifically, Complementary synthesis of the others' knowledge, Succession within the nurse from the many to the paradoxical one. The presupposition of dialogue was brought up in an explicit manner in the Theory, grounded on the philosophical bases of existentialism, humanism, and phenomenology. There was a distinct behavior in each experience, in spite of the common aspects, such as having been experienced with neonates and in the same institution.

Taking care of children´s family on sexual abuse situation considering the Humanistic Theory. A phenomenological study
Online Brazilian Journal of Nursing, 2007Co-Authors: Lygia Maria Pereira Da Silva, Marli Terezinha Gimeniz Galvão, Thelma Leite De Araujo, Maria Vera Lucia Moreira Leitao CardosoAbstract:The sexual abuse is interpersonal violence practised against children or teenagers for an adult’s or older teenager’s sexual gratification. The research has aimed to apply the Humanistic Theory on the care of sexual abused children’s family. Phenomenological and qualitative approach was considered on the assistance of the children’s caregivers and it was carried on in a non-governmental organisation situated at the county of Fortaleza, Ceara. The data was collected in November 2005 and analysed with reference to the presuppositions of Paterson & Zderad’s Nursing Humanistic Theory. The caregivers have demonstrated little preparation to face the other aspects derived from the revelation; little knowledge about the effects of the sexual abuse upon the children and the way to help them as well. It can be concluded that the Theory is able to realize the client’s needs and contributes to assist the demands produced by the intrafamiliar sexual abuse experience. The caregivers must be the target of the health prefessionals’ assistance.

Conversations Around Semiotic Engineering - Semiotic Engineering as a Reflexive, Transdisciplinary and Humanistic Theory in and Beyond HCI
Conversations Around Semiotic Engineering, 2017Co-Authors: Carla Faria LeitaoAbstract:Since the early 1990’s Semiotic Engineering has evolved from a semiotic-based approach to user interface languages design to a comprehensive Theory of Human-Computer-Interaction (HCI). More recently, in 2016, Semiotic Engineering went beyond HCI and gave initial contributions to the field of Human-Centered Computing. This chapter presents three aspects that can be interpreted as constants in the process of permanent evolution of this Theory: Reflexivity, Transdisciplinarity, and Humanistic values. The stimulus and support to engagement in critical reasoning about research and practice; the development of a distinct and transdisciplinary object of study examined in light of its own ontology and methodology; and the role of human meanings and values in the Theory are discussed as drivers of innovation and transformation. These key factors can serve as supporting analytical categories in discussions around Semiotic Engineering and its contributions, as well as in the learning process of the Theory.
