  • optimal planning and Infrastructure Development for shale gas production
    Energy Conversion and Management, 2016
Co-Authors: Karla Arredondoramirez, Jose Maria Ponceortega, Mahmoud M Elhalwagi
    Abstract:

Abstract Recently, there has been a significant interest to the Development and exploitation of unconventional gas resources especially shale gas. Several places around the world have substantial shale gas reserves in regions that lack in the Infrastructure needed for production and distribution. This paper presents a new mathematical programming approach based on disjunctive programming to account for complex logical relationships in the optimal planning of shale gas exploitation and Infrastructure Development in places without Infrastructure for production, treatment, and distribution. Because of the variability in natural gas supplies and demands over time, a multi-period optimization approach is adopted over a certain time horizon, which includes Monte Carlo simulations to assess the associated volatility. The optimization approach accounts for the different components of the Infrastructure, the production schedules, and the time-value of money to maximize the net present value of the Infrastructure. The applicability of the proposed approach is shown through a case study in the Burgos basin located in the Northeast of Mexico and in the southern extension of the Maverick Basin in Texas. The results show attractive economic results for the exploitation and distribution of gas to satisfy the national demand.

  • Prototype KPIs for rural Infrastructure Development
International Journal of Productivity and Performance Management, 2010
    Co-Authors: Suchanya Posayanant, Chotchai Chareonngam
    Abstract:

Purpose – It is difficult to manage and measure the effectiveness of Infrastructure Development efforts of the sub‐district local governments called Tambon Administrative Organizations (TAOs), the lowest level of local governments in Thailand. This paper aims to develop and demonstrate the applicability of key performance indicators (KPIs) based on the integration of balanced scorecard (BSC) and value chain approaches.Design/methodology/approach – The processes of designing KPIs are described with emphasis of how to apply a value chain model into designing BSC's KPIs. Expert focus groups and case studies from various parts of Thailand were conducted to give an insight into the adaptation of the performance measures in Infrastructure Development of TAOs.Findings – The application of a value chain model is critical for the design of practical BSC's KPIs because they can be conveniently embedded into existing practices. The case studies of prototype KPIs demonstrate the performance measurement of infrastruct...

  • Public private Partnership for Rural Infrastructure Development in India
Journal for Studies in Management and Planning, 2018
    Co-Authors: Keshari Nandan Mishra
    Abstract:

Government of India has given attention towards the Infrastructure Development of the rural and urban area. Government has given priority to the Infrastructure Development in the five year plan but many constraints have resulted in slow growth of rural and urban Infrastructure in India. Until now investment in Infrastructure sector has been largely the responsibility of the public sector in India. Even during the current period of economic reform, started in 1991 the dismal state of rural Infrastructure has hardly shown any significant improvement. To improve the quality and coverage of infrastructural services, the public sector should either make way for private and informal providers or enter into partnerships with the private sector. Public private Partnership Model has been one of the innovative approaches for Development of Infrastructure. This paper is an attempt to analyze the important aspects of PPP for the Development of rural Infrastructure in India, and to understand the various schemes of Government for the Infrastructure Development.
