    Cette recherche étudie la logique institutionnelle et la connectivité performative des messages officiels publiés par les institutions fédérales canadiennes (IFC) sur leurs sites web officiels, en adoptant une approche communicationnelle (CCO). Dans le contexte d’une politique numérique impulsée par le gouvernement Trudeau depuis 2015, qui tient compte de la présence des citoyens sur les plateformes socionumériques, cette recherche analyse la logique institutionnelle des IFC et la visibilité des individus et des collectivités humaines présentifiés dans les messages institutionnels. L’analyse thématique de publications institutionnelles sur le web montre que les IFC transmettent des messages qui constituent une logique dominée par la pensée traditionnelle et néo-institutionnelle. Elle désincarne les communications institutionnelles, qui ne parviennent pas à appliquer le principe de connectivité performative recherché par les directives fédérales des communications sur le web.This research focuses on the study of the Institutional Logic and performed connectivity conveyed by official messages of the Canadian federal institutions (CFI) on their official websites through lenses of organizational communication approach (CCO). Since 2015, the Canadian federal government established a new digital communication policy in order to take into account the interactivity and active involvement of individuals and publics as they are increasingly using these digital platforms to communicate with institutions. Our thematic analysis of messages published on CFI websites highlights the dominant traditional and neo-Institutional Logic of IFC, which obscures human visibility, disincarnates organization and fails to apply the principle of performed connectivity pursued by the official federal communication policy and guideline

    Abstract:

    What is the relationship of global and local (country-specific) corporate social responsibility (CSR) to international organizational strategy? Applying the strategic Logic of the Bartlett and Ghoshal typology to the realm of CSR, multinational firms should respond to pressures for integration and responsiveness from salient stakeholders. However, an Institutional Logic would suggest that multinational firms will simply replicate the existing product-market organizational strategy (multidomestic, transnational, global) in their management of CSR. These alternative approaches are tested with a survey instrument sent to MNEs operating in Mexico. The results of this study are consistent with the proposition that Institutional pressures, rather than strategic analysis of social issues and stakeholders, are guiding decision-making with respect to CSR. We develop implications for MNE management and research, as well as public policy.

    Abstract:

    The focus of this paper is to examine the responses to Institutional isomorph ism in one area of the public sector — universities. As an example, one particu lar organizational practice is examined — performance appraisal — and its implications for one group of professionals — academics. In doing so, some of the sources of variation in responses to Institutional pressures are illustrated and the strategies of resistance actors engage in to resist such pressures. It is suggested that the concept of Institutional Logic is an important element in influencing responses to isomorphism, providing a repertoire of beliefs with which to contest concepts of legitimacy.

    Aim : To explore prevailing discourses on nursing competence in homecare nursing to boost understanding of practice within this field. Design : A qualitative study with a social constructivist perspective. Methods : Six focus‐group interviews with homecare nurses in six different municipalities in Norway. Adapting a critical discourse analysis, data were linguistically, thematically and contextually analysed in the light of theories on competence, Institutional Logic and discourses. Results : The analysis found homecare nursing to be a diverse and contradictory practice with ever‐increasing work tasks. Presented as binary oppositions, we identified the following prevailing discourses: individualized care versus organizing work; everyday‐life care versus medical follow‐up; and following rules versus using professional discretion. The binary oppositions represent contradictory requirements that homecare nurses strive to balance. The findings indicate that medical follow‐up and organizational work have become more dominant in homecare nursing, leaving less time and attention paid to relational and everyday‐life care.publishedVersio
