    Abstract:

    An Interactive virtual factory testbed was developed as a Part of a research to explore the applications of virtual environments in the area of manufacturing automation. This fully immersive factory built with special attention to details consists of a set of modular machines that a designer can drag and place in the factory to study issues such as plant layout, clusters and Part flow analysis. The paper further discusses several cell formation and visualization techniques developed especially for the design of the virtual factory. A modified Boolean matrix approach algorithm was improved as an example of applying traditional factory design methods in developing virtual factories of the future. Finally a novel Interactive Part-machine matrix visualization interface was developed to provide a more intuitive view of the mathematical results.

The main objective was to create awareness of the current limitations of these solutions in the mobile context. After this Interactive Part, we concluded the workshop presenting our on-going work on this topic by briefly describing our methodology for the design and security assessment of multi-factor authentication and Single Sign-On solutions for mobile native applications; and presenting a plugin that helps developers make their mobile native application secure.

  • Using software metrics in the evaluation of a conceptual component model

    Every Interactive system has a functional Part and an Interactive Part. However the software engineering and the human-computer-interaction communities work separately in terms of methods, models and tools, which induces a work overhead for integrating the results of these efforts, as well as increased inconsistency risks. We endeavour to treat this problem by proposing a design method, which couples the functional kernel and the interaction design. In Particular, this method proposes a specific way of structuring the interaction and the business spaces. The structure is based on components called Symphony Objects. In this article, we attempt to evaluate the technical aspect of a Symphony Object model issued from the method by measuring its implementations with software metrics.
