Scientometrics, 2012Co-Authors: Dennis N Ocholla, Peter Ingwersen, Ed C M Noyons, Wolfgang GlanzelAbstract:The 13th International Conference on Scientometrics and Informetrics took place in Durban, South Africa from 4 to 7 July 2011 (Ocholla and Ingwersen 2011). The meeting was organised under the auspices of the International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics (ISSI) and by the ISSI 2011 Conference Local Organising Committee with the participation of six Universities and Research Centres in South Africa, particularly, the Durban University of Technology, the University of Cape Town, the University of KwaZulu Natal, the National Research Foundation, the University of South Africa, the University of Pretoria and the University of Zululand. The event was hosted by the University of Zululand and Durban University of Technology. This was the first time that the Conference was held in Africa. The previous 12 Conferences in this series of biannual International Conferences on Scientometrics and Informetrics had been held in Belgium (1987), Canada (1989), India (1991), Germany (1993), USA (1995), Israel (1997), Mexico (1999), Australia (2001), China (2003), Sweden (2005), Spain (2007) and Brazil (2009). Scientometrics, 2010Co-Authors: Jacqueline Leta, Ronald Rousseau, Birger Larsen, Wolfgang GlanzelAbstract:The 12th International Conference on Scientometrics and Informetrics held in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in July 2009 was organised by BIREME/PAHO/WHO (Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information of the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization) and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), under the auspices of the International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics (ISSI). The previous ten events in this series of biennial International Conferences on scientometrics and informetrics have been held in Belgium (1987), Canada (1989), India (1991), Germany (1993), USA (1995), Israel (1997), Mexico (1999), Australia (2001), China (2003), Sweden (2005) and Spain (2007). More than 230 participants from 40 countries of all continents attended the meeting, covering all relevant topics of present-day research in our field.
