  • Securing your Internet Connection: a sequel
    IEEE Communications Magazine, 2002
    Co-Authors: E. Rabinovitch
    Abstract:

This author discusses the problem of Internet security. He draws some parallels between spammers trying to trick victims to opt out of their e-mail list in order to obtain information on valid e-mail addresses with so-called social engineering techniques used by security perpetrators. The term social engineering is typically used to describe a human-interactive (the emphasis is on the word human as opposed to computer-based) process that tricks people into violating security policies and procedures to get unauthorized access to protected information exposing security vulnerabilities. The best way to deal with social engineering threats is through creating and enforcing strict security procedures through education and training.

  • teles operated echocardiography using a robotic arm and an Internet Connection
Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology, 2014
Co-Authors: Philippe Arbeille, Romain Provost, Dominique Dimouro, Monica Georgescu
    Abstract:

Abstract The objective was to design and validate a method of tele-operated echocardiography. The method was tested in a hospital facility with an expert sonographer located in a room 10 m away from the patient. An ultrasound probe, fixed to a motorized probe holder, was located on the patient by a non-sonographer and was remotely controlled by the expert sonographer via an Internet Connection. Scans were performed on 41 cardiac patients. The quality of the cardiac views obtained using tele-echocardiography was lower than that of reference echocardiography, but generated similar measurements in 93%–100% of the cases. Bland–Altman plots and statistical comparison of tele- and reference echocardiography measures revealed no differences ( p  > 0.05). Of the 71 valve leaks or aortic stenoses present, 61 (86%) were detected using tele-echocardiography. These results indicate that tele-echocardiography provided reliable diagnoses and acceptable measurements in 86% and 93% of cases, respectively, with no false-positive diagnoses being reported.

  • Estimation of Communication Range Using Wi-Fi for V2X Communication Environment
Proceedings - 2016 10th International Conference on Complex Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems CISIS 2016, 2016
Co-Authors: Kenta Ito, Go Hirakawa, Yoshitaka Shibata
    Abstract:

In this paper, we introduce an estimation of communication range using Wi-Fi for V2X communication environment. Traffic accidents and traffic hazard are serious social problems. Understanding road condition in advance is important and necessary to prevent traffic accidents and traffic hazards. In addition, getting information without Internet Connection is necessary to provide road information for drivers in real-time because there is an environment that getting Internet Connection is difficult. We construct a road condition sharing system with multiple vehicles using V2X communication. Our goal is to share road condition without Internet Connection. To realize our goal, we experiment V2X communication, evaluate experimental results and estimate communication range.

  • Experimentation of V2X communication in real environment for road alert information sharing system
Proceedings - International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications AINA, 2016
Co-Authors: Kenta Ito, Go Hirakawa, Yoshitaka Shibata

  • 3PGCIC - Managing Control the Water Treatment Using the Electro-Flotation Technology That is Based on the Pervasive Computing with the Internet Connection
2015 10th International Conference on P2P Parallel Grid Cloud and Internet Computing (3PGCIC), 2015
    Co-Authors: Anna Antonyová, Peter Antony
    Abstract:

Managing the manufacturing process remotely through an Internet Connection allows, inter alia, to avoid, for example, many negative phenomena affecting the environment, which become sometimes necessary in the ambient surrounding of the production facility. In a company, where decoration the boxes leads to a massive water pollution with the disperse colorants, there was installed the waste water purifier to recycle sewage water using the technology of electro-flotation. Originally the control system enables to control devices only using the infrared remote controller. But due to the noisy operations during the box production, the waste water purifier was placed closer to the waste channels of sewers, farther away from the office for the sewage control center of the company and also there has been implemented TCP/IP control system using an Internet Connection. This enables remote monitoring and displaying the current status directly on the monitor screen. If necessary, thus it is possible to implement the remote service access also to the main operating functions of the device.
