    Abstract:

    In this paper, the authors present an Investigative Process which can be used to enhance the design of mathematics learning games. Several techniques such as mathematics pedagogy and game design lenses [12] were studied in the development of this Investigative Process. Game design lenses are tools developed for examining game designs. The game design lenses were analyzed and mapped to several mathematics-specific teaching and learning theories. The authors present a mapping of the lenses to the learning theories and the resultant Process investigates and incorporates suitable theories into a mathematics game design. This paper presents a Process for incorporating necessary teaching and learning theories into mathematics learning games.

    Abstract:

    The primary function of a games console is that of an entertainment system. However the latest iteration of these consoles has added a number of new interactive features that may prove of value to the digital investigator. This paper highlights the value of these consoles, in particular Sony's latest version of their PlayStation. This console provides a number of features including web browsing, downloading of material and chat functionality; all communication features that will be of interest to forensic investigators. In this paper we undertake an initial investigation of the PlayStation 4 games console. This paper identifies potential information sources of forensic value with the PlayStation 4 and provides a method for acquiring information in a forensically sound manner. In particular issues with the online and offline Investigative Process are also identified.

    Abstract:

    During the last few years geophysical survey has developed considerably in terms of instrumentation and image Processing. Together with remote sensing and GIS, it is becoming increasingly, if still slowly, integrated into archaeological investigations in the Mediterranean. This article reviews how, and with what success, geophysical techniques--and, to a lesser extent, geochemical methods, aerial/satellite remote sensing and GIS--have been applied to Mediterranean (especially Greek) archaeology, bearing in mind the environmental constraints of the region, and the significance, diversity and number of its ancient monuments. The application of all the main techniques of geophysical survey and some geochemical methods to a wide range of archaeological targets carried out over the last 40 years is discussed critically. Current developments in instrumentation and data Processing are presented, and the next generation of geophysical work, which will have to meet challenges in relation to the protection and management of cultural resources, is also considered. In view of the need to create a common platform for the preservation of cultural heritage, it is argued that geophysical prospection techniques have to become an inseparable component of the archaeological Investigative Process.

This novel approach to data analysis is a mixed methods research design that involves the holistic combination and comparison of qualitative and quantitative data. An example is provided on the psychometric Process of creating trichotomous instruments that are an essential part of the Tri–Squared research Investigative Process.
