  • FoSSaCS - Tight Worst-Case Bounds for Polynomial Loop Programs
Lecture Notes in Computer Science, 2019
    Co-Authors: Amir M. Ben-amram, Geoff W. Hamilton
    Abstract:

In 2008, Ben-Amram, Jones and Kristiansen showed that for a simple programming language—representing non-deterministic imperative programs with bounded loops, and arithmetics limited to addition and multiplication—it is possible to decide precisely whether a program has certain growth-rate properties, in particular whether a computed value, or the program’s running time, has a polynomial growth rate.

  • J. Kristiansen, Golden algae: a biology of chrysophytes
    Journal of Paleolimnology, 2006
    Co-Authors: John P. Smol
    Abstract:

ected phycologist, who is widely acknowledged as a leading authority on chrysophyte algae. Dr. Kristiansen has an impressive list of scientific publications (spanning over 45 years) dealing with various aspects of chrysophyte taxonomy, ecology, and biology. However, the recent publication of Golden Algae: A Biology of Chrysophytes is ‘‘a very personal monograph’’ summarizing, often in plain language, his thoughts on over 200 years of history of chrysophyte research, its main accomplishments, and some of its remaining challenges. From the perspective of most readers of the Journal of Paleolimnology, chrysophytes are of particular interest as paleoindicators, as the siliceous scales and spines of some key taxa (e.g., Mallomonas, Synura), as well as the endogenously produced siliceous stomatocysts or resting stages produced by all chrysophytes, are well preserved in lake sediments (e.g., Chu et al. 2005; Moos et al. 2005; Gaiser et al. 2004). The book is divided into eight chapters. Chapter 1 is an introduction to this structurally diverse group of algae, summarizing their ultrastructure, extracellular structures (including the formation of the siliceous scales in some taxa that are used by paleolimnologists), and their reproduction and life histories. Chapter 2 focuses on chrysophyte taxonomy, and traces the development of the various taxonomic schemes developed for these algae. The chapter is enhanced by portraits of many pioneers in the development of chrysophyte taxonomy. The chapter also includes reproductions of some of the original figures used by some of these earliest of microscopists. Chrysophyte nutrition is described in Chapter 3. This is an important chapter, as chrysophytes are known to exhibit diverse nutritional strategies, including photosynthesis, heterotrophy, and even phagotrophy in some taxa. Chapter 4 summarizes current views on chrysophyte evolution. The silica-scaled chrysophytes warrant their own section in Chapter 5. The various siliceous structures are described, including many line drawings, black and white and some colour light micrographs, and especially scanning and transmission electron micrographs. Chapter 6 summarizes some of the key studies describing the occurrence and biogeography of chrysophytes. Although many of the classical studies on chrysophyte distributions from lake water samples are mentioned, Kristiansen does J. P. • Trenger vi flere kliniske studier? Om verdien av mer informasjon i evaluering av helsetiltak
    Research Papers in Economics, 2010
Co-Authors: Atle G Guttomsen, Tron Anders Moger, Ivar Sønbø Kristiansen
    Abstract:

A., Guttormsen, A.G., Kristiansen, I.S., 2010. Nyere metoder – Hvordan prioritere helsetiltak nar bade effekter og kostnader er usikre. Helseokonomisk forskningsprogram ved UiO - Volum 2010:5. HERO skriftserie/Working paper.
