  • vapor pressure measurement of Lead and Lead Chlorides in feot cao sio2 al2o3 system
Transactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China, 2015
    Co-Authors: Yanling Zhang, Eiki Kasai
    Abstract:

Abstract Vapor pressure of Lead and Lead Chlorides from FeO T –CaO–SiO 2 –Al 2 O 3 slag system was measured by using Knudsen effusion method. The results suggest that the vapor pressures of Lead and Lead Chlorides increase with increasing temperature. For the slag systems without chlorine, the logarithm of vapor pressure (ln p ) shows highly linear dependency on the reciprocal of temperature (1/ T ), and higher vapor pressure is observed in the condition where more metallic Lead vapor is formed. In this case, the vapor pressure of Lead increases with increasing slag basicity ( w (CaO)/ w (SiO 2 )), increasing FeO content and w (Fe 2+ )/ w (Fe 3+ ) ratio. For the case of slag system with chlorine addition, the total pressures of PbCl 2 and PbCl increase with decreasing basicity and FeO content of slag.

  • ternary alkali Lead Chlorides crystal growth crystal structure absorption and emission properties
Progress in Crystal Growth and Characterization of Materials, 1995
    Co-Authors: K Nitsch, M Dusek, M Nikl, K Polak, M Rodova
    Abstract:

Ternary alkali Lead Chlorides — KPb2C15, K2PbCl4, RbPb2C15, Rb2PbCl4, CsPbC13, KPbCl3 and Cs4PbCl6, are an important group of divalent Lead compounds which, regarding the large concentration range of Lead and its location in various crystal structures of these compounds, forms a very important model system for the investigation of the emission mechanism of divalent Lead emission centers. This paper presents the basic information about these compounds as well as their purification and the results obtained in crystal growth. It deals with crystal structures of these compounds and their comparison with that of PbCl2. Great attention is paid to the study of absorption and emission properties of these compounds.

  • The purification and preparation of high-purity PbCl2 and ternary alkali Lead chloride single crystals
    Journal of Crystal Growth, 1993
    Co-Authors: Karel Nitsch, M Rodova, A Cihlař, Z. Málková, M. Vaněček
    Abstract:

Abstract Purification and crystal growth of PbCl 2 and congruently melting ternary alkali Lead Chlorides, KPb 2 Cl 5 , RbPbCl 3 , RbPb 2 Cl 5 , and CsPbCl 3 , will be described in the present paper. Source materials were purified by the chlorination of molten Chlorides with gaseous mixture of chlorinating agents in combination with a subsequent zone-melting. The efficiency of this method is confirmed by chemical analysis before and after purification and by the behaviour of the melts. Large single crystals of PbCl 2 , KPb 2 Cl 5 , RbPb 2 Cl 5 and CsPbCl 3 , 20 mm in diameter and 50–60 mm long, were grown by the Bridgman method. Their quality was checked by the optical absorption and elastic light scattering measurements.

    Physica Status Solidi (a), 1993
    Co-Authors: K Nitsch, M Dusek, M Nikl, M Rodova, A Cihlař, Věra Hamplova, N Rysava
    Abstract:

The crystallization of incongruently melting compounds K2PbCl4, Rb2PbCl4, and Cs4PbCl6 from a high temperature solution, or by a horizontal travelling heater method is investigated and the obtained crystals are characterized by using methods of DTA, X-ray analysis, absorption, and emission spectroscopy.

  • Electrode Potentials of Antimony in the Mixture of Potassium and Lead Chlorides
    Russian Journal of Electrochemistry, 2020
    Co-Authors: P. A. Arkhipov, A. S. Kholkina, Yu. P. Zaikov, N. G. Molchanova
    Abstract:

Equilibrium potentials of antimony in the KCl–PbCl_2–SbCl_3 melt are measured by the EMF method as a function of the temperature and the content of antinomy chloride. Empirical equations of isotherms and polytherms of equilibrium potentials of antimony are obtained. The arbitrary standard potentials of antimony in the molten mixture of potassium and Lead Chlorides are calculated. The changes in the Gibbs energy at the formation of antimony trichloride from elements in the melt under study are calculated. The separation factors of metals from alloys are assessed. These results suggest that the processes of separation of Lead and antimony in chloride melts hold much promise.

  • Electrode Potentials of Bismuth in a Mixture of Potassium and Lead Chlorides
    Russian Journal of Electrochemistry, 2018
    Co-Authors: P. A. Arkhipov, A. S. Kholkina, Yu. P. Zaikov, N. G. Molchanova
    Abstract:

The equilibrium potentials of Bi in a KCl–PbCl_2–BiCl_3 melt were measured by the EMF method at different temperatures and bismuth chloride contents. Empirical equations of isotherms and polytherms of the equilibrium potentials of bismuth were obtained. The conventional standard potentials of Bi in a molten mixture of potassium and Lead Chlorides were calculated. The changes in the Gibbs energy during the formation of bismuth trichloride from the elements in the melt were calculated. The coefficients of metal separation from alloys were estimated. The results indicate that it is promising to develop a technology for electrolytic processing of secondary raw materials for separating Lead and bismuth in chloride melts.

  • Thermodynamic characteristics of the Pb-Bi alloys in the KCl-PbCl_2 melt
Russian Journal of Non-Ferrous Metals, 2011
    Co-Authors: Yu. R. Khalimullina, P. A. Arkhipov, A. S. Kholkina, Yu. P. Zaikov, V. V. Ashikhin, G. V. Skopov, N. G. Molchanova
    Abstract:

The thermodynamic properties of the Pb-Bi alloys containing from 1.5 to 95 mol % Pb are investigated in a molten mixture of potassium and Lead Chlorides in a temperature range of 723–873 K by measuring the equilibrium values of the electromotive force. The partial and integral thermodynamic characteristics of the system are calculated, and its small negative deviations from ideality are established.

  • Thermodynamic characteristics of Pb-Sb alloys
Russian Journal of Non-Ferrous Metals, 2007
    Co-Authors: Yu. P. Zaikov, P. A. Arkhipov, Yu. R. Khalimullina, V. V. Ashikhin, K. A. Plekhanov, V. V. Chebykin, N. G. Molchanova
    Abstract:

Thermodynamic properties of Pb-Sb alloys containing 20–95 mol % Pb are investigated by the method of measurement of equilibrium emf values in the range T = 723–873 K in a molten mixture of potassium and Lead Chlorides. The partial and integral thermodynamic characteristics of the system are calculated, and small negative deviations from ideality are revealed. The extremum of integral functions of mixing lies in the region of 0.55 mole fraction of Pb. The system could not be treated as a regular solution since the excess entropy introduces a considerable contribution to deviation from ideality, while the excess Gibbs energy differs considerably from the heat of mixing.

    Co-Authors: Yu. P. Zaikov, P. A. Arkhipov, Yu. R. Khalimullina, V. V. Ashikhin, K. A. Plekhanov, A. P. Khramov
    Abstract:

The effect of temperature and antimony concentration on the anodic dissolution of Pb-Sb alloys in an equimolar KCl-PbCl_2 melt is investigated. It is shown that, up to the specific values of the current densities, the main process is Lead dissolution, which starts at near-equilibrium potentials. The theoretical anode polarization curve for the dissolution of Pb-Sb alloys is calculated. It is established that the limiting stage is the mass transfer from the alloy side.
