    Abstract:

    Several toxic plants produce lysosomal storage of glycoproteins and mainly nervous clinical disorders. A disease caused by the consumption of Astragalus garbancillo var. garbancillo in sheep from northwestern Argentina is described here. The affected animals presented weight loss, Listlessness, staggering gait, and ataxia. Histopathological studies revealed cellular vacuolation in several organs, mainly in the central nervous system (CNS). The material accumulated in the cells was positive for lectins LCA (Lens culinaris agglutinin), sWGA (succinyl–Triticum vulgaris agglutinin), and Con A (Concanavalin A). Finally, the presence of toxic levels of swainsonine was detected in composite samples of the plant.     Abstract:

    Distillers grains with solubles are becoming an increasingly important staple of cattle diets because of rapid expansion of the fuel ethanol industry. Sulfuric acid often is used in ethanol production processes to clean and control the pH of fermenters. Consequently, distillers grains with solubles can occasionally contain high sulfur concentrations. Within the rumen, sulfur is converted to hydrogen sulfide gas by ruminal microbes. Hydrogen sulfide is eructated from the rumen and subsequently aspirated into the lungs; excess amounts of hydrogen sulfide can cause polioencephalomalacia (brainers). Polioencephalomalacia is characterized by increased respiration, decreased feed intake, Listlessness, muscular incoordination, progressive blindness, and necrosis of brain tissue. Elevated sulfur levels also may have deleterious effects on cattle growth performance and carcass characteristics.     Synchronous data-flow is a programming paradigm which has been successfully applied in reactive systems. In this context, it can be characterized as some class of static bounded memory data-flow networks. In particular, these networks are not recursively defined, and obey some kind of "synchronous" constraints (clock calculus). Based on Kahn's relationship between data-flow and stream functions, the synchronous constraints can be related to Wadler's Listlessness, and can be seen as sufficient conditions ensuring listless evaluation. As a by-product, those networks enjoy efficient compiling techniques. In this paper, we show that it is possible to extend the class of static synchronous data-flow to higher order and dynamical networks, thus giving sense to a larger class of synchronous data-flow networks
