2017Co-Authors: Izevbigie Usifo D P I E J, Enofe A OAbstract:The objective of this study is to ascertain the impact of confidential privilege on forensic accountants’ effectiveness during Litigation Support services.The survey method was used to gather data from respondents which include legal practioners, professional accountants and forensic accounting students through the administration of fifty (50) copies of likert-scale questionnaire. But forty-three (43) copies were return completed; hence a sample of 43 respondents was used for data analyses, while the responses were coded in numerical scale to suit the statistical and econometric analytical tool.The analyses of the micro study were done with the aid of the undated ordinary least square regression (OLS) technique using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS 20). The result of the analyses shows that confidentiality of information influences forensic accountant effectiveness during Litigation Support services; the disclosure of confidential information may not give credibility to expert testimony during Litigation Support; and that the disclosures of confidential information by the forensic accountant can help convince the judge during legal proceeding. Consequently, the study recommends that forensic accountants should always exhibit high degree of dexterity while serving as an expert in the course of Litigation Support during pre-trial, trial and post-trial situation.

Content analysis method was used in getting some information and eliciting responses from professionals in related filed. The limitation of the study was in the area of the population of study as it was based on a professional line of endeavour.It was revealed that the professional accountancy training alone is not sufficient to tackle the control deficiency and risk of fraudulent activities in an organisation and to be a good expert witness. It was recommended that there is a need for advance training in the area of forensic accounting for any professional performing internal audit/control functions and for sound Litigation Support.

It provides an accounting analysis that is sustainable to the court which will form the basis for discussion, debate and ultimately dispute resolution. While certainly ideal for court testimony, in broad terms, 'forensic', is about fact finding and interpretation. The increase in number of fraud and fraudulent activities in Nigeria and around the world has emphasized the need for forensic accounting. Engagements of forensic accountants on criminal matters typically arise as the aftermath of fraud. Fraud examination in forensic accounting is different from that of 'traditional accounting' because the forensic accountant has the intuitive ability to analyze fraud. The aim or this paper is to identify the role of forensic accounting in fraud investigations and Litigation Support and proffer suggestions that will, hopefully, bring to public awareness the importance of this area of accounting.

With millions of individuals communicating online each day, we have a unique opportunity to observe the formation and evolution of roles and relationships in networked groups and organizations. Yet a number of challenges arise when attempting to infer the underlying social network from data that is often ambiguous, incomplete and context-dependent. In this paper, we consider the problem of collaborative network discovery from domains such as intelligence analysis and Litigation Support where the analyst is attempting to construct a validated representation of the social network. We specifically address the challenge of relationship identification where the objective is to identify relevant communications that substantiate a given social relationship type. We propose a supervised ranking approach to the problem and assess its performance on a manager-subordinate relationship identification task using the Enron email corpus. By exploiting message content, the ranker routinely cues the analyst to relevant communications relationships and message traffic that are indicative of the social relationship.
