The conventional method of applying pressure with thumb or forceps relies largely on subjective interpretation. Our system improves on this method by photometric quantification of color changes produced by defined magnitudes of pressure. We tested the new system by applying increasing levels of pressure to lividity in 50 cadavers with known time of death. Characteristic courses for pressure-induced changes were found for the brightness component of Livor Mortis, revealing distinct differences between the respective postmortem intervals. The surface areas under these curves were then calculated and distributed into 10-hour postmortem time categories. Variance analysis of these surface values revealed clear differences between the time categories, especially in the medians. Distinct differences between the various postmortem time categories were also evident for the chroma component of Livor Mortis. The new system offers a further method — in addition to body temperature, rigor Mortis, and the electrical responsiveness of skeletal muscles — for estimating time of death, especially after long postmortem intervals.

We have developed a measuring system that uses digital processing to objectify the relationship between the pressure applied and blanching of postmortem lividity. The pressure is electronically registered by a strain gauge. At predefined levels (10, 20, 30, up to 100N) the software triggers a color measurement by a commerically available tristimulus colorimeter. All parameters are measured in a single procedure and routed to the computer through a data interface. The pressure-induced color changes in the Livor Mortis are evaluated according to the L*, a*, b* system (CIE-LAB according to DIN 5033, DIN 6174), which closely approximates the physiology of sight. An additional color spacing formula (AE) allows analysis of color changes irrespective of the basic skin tone. Initial measurements on cadavers showed that application of increasing pressure produced regular courses of color changes in Livor Mortis.

Pengaruh lama waktu kematian terhadap kemampuan motilitas spermatozoa testis hewan coba post mortem yang diperiksa pada suhu kamar dan dingin

Metode tersebut terkadang dapat dipengaruhi oleh faktor perancu, sehingga dengan penelitian ini diharapkan dapat membantu mengurangi bias akibat faktor perancu dan menentukan perkiraan lama waktu kematian dengan berupa motilitas spermatozoa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat metode yang sudah ada sebelumnya. Tujuan: Mengetahui pengaruh lama waktu kematian terhadap motilitas spermatozoa testis hewan coba postmortem pada suhu kamar dan dingin. Metode: Jenis penelitian ini eksperimental dengan desain penelitian time series design. Sampel adalah 16 pasang testis sapi jantan dengan kriterian tertentu, dibagi secara random menjadi 2 kelompok. Kelompok 1 diberi perlakuan suhu kamar dan kelompok ke 2 diberi perlakuan suhu dingin. Pengamatan motilitas spermatozoa dilakukan pada interval 6 jam, 12 jam, 18 jam, 24 jam post mortem, diamati dengan mikroskop dan dihitung jumlah spermatozoa motil. Uji statistik menggunakan Wilcoxon karena data berdistribusi tidak normal. Hasil: Rerata jumlah spermatozoa motil pada pengamatan 6jam, 12 jam, 18 jam dan 24 jam pada suhu kamar adalah 74,44, 61,44 , 24,25, 3,69 dan pada suhu dingin 80,44, 67,5, 34,38, 9,56. PENGARUH PERBEDAAN SUHU DAN LAMA WAKTU KEMATIAN TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN PERGERAKAN SILIA CAVITAS NASI HEWAN COBA POST MORTEM (Sebagai Metode Penentuan Lamanya Waktu Kematian dan Mempelajari Faktor Suhu Yang Mempengaruhinya)

Dalam bidang forensik penentuan lama waktu kematian sangat penting. Algor Mortis, Livor Mortis, dan pembusukan merupakan contoh metode penentuan lama waktu kematian. Belum ada penentuan lama waktu kematian yang akurat. Walaupun individu sudah mati, silia akan tetap mempunyai kemampuan untuk bergerak. Hal ini yang akan dikaitkan dengan lama waktu kematian. Penelitian ini mencari faktor yang mempengaruhi pergerakan silia, seperti suhu dan lama waktu kematian. Tujuan Membuktikan apakah perbedaan suhu dan lama waktu kematian berpengaruh terhadap pergerakan silia cavitas nasi post mortem yang diambil dari mukosa cavitas nasi hewan coba untuk dikaitkan dengan lama waktu kematian. Metode Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental yang menggunakan time series design dengan interval waktu yang telah ditentukan. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 32 sampel, 16 sampel diletakkan pada ruang terbuka sebagai suhu kamar dan 16 sampel diletakkan pada lemari es sebagai suhu dingin. Uji statistik menggunakan uji alternative paired t-test yaitu uji Wilcoxon. Hasil Pada 6 jam, 12 jam, dan 18 jam suhu kamar dan dingin didapatkan perbedaan yang signifikan yaitu p=0,000, p=0,002, dan p =0,003. Pada 24 jam suhu kamar dan suhu dingin tidak didapatkan perbedaan yang signifikan yaitu p=0,484. Kesimpulan Terdapat pengaruh perbedaan suhu dan lama waktu kematian pada 6, 12, dan 18 jam suhu kamar dan suhu dingin terhadap kemampuan pergerakan silia cavitas nasi hewan coba post mortem.
