    Abstract:

    One of the first degenerative diseases of the Lumbar spine is the subchondral sclerosis from which other degenerative complications can occur. The first symptom of the subchondral sclerosis and Herniated Disk is the low back pain. The subchondral sclerosis and Herniated Disk is often associated with obesity, high body fat index, and high stress on the vertebral spine. This paper proposes a fuzzy expert system which predicts that a patient will suffer from subchondral sclerosis. The expert system correlates the body mass index (BMI) with the body fat (BF) percentage and the daily activity expressed by the consumed calories. In total 60 inference rules were created and the first results present a correlation of 0.91 with the results from the control group. Using this system, a compliant patient can avoid serious spinal cord problems.

    Abstract:

    El objetivo del presente estudio es verificar los efectos de un programa de gimnasia postural en individuos con Hernia discal Lumbar, de ambos sexos, de 29 a 70 anos, durante un periodo de seis meses en el que fueran expuestos. Esta investigacion, trata de un estudio del tipo Ensayo Clinico Aleatorio, aplicado durante 6 meses en los individuos (n=30) de ambos generos; la edad media fue 49,73 anos, con 36 discos con Hernia de disco Lumbar. Se diagnostico a traves del examen de Imagen de Resonancia Magnetica (IRM) y se dividio por el grado de la exhibicion para este tipo de tratamiento conservador, siendo 14 individuos en el grupo del estudio y 16 en el grupo control. Fue elaborado y aplicado un programa de gimnasia postural (GP), con el objetivo de medir antes y despues el niveles de dolor con la utilizacion del cuestionario de Lombalgia de Oswestry (FAIRBANK, 1980) e IRMs. Luego del programa, hubo un gran aumento en el nivel de dolor leve, siendo 20% (moderado, en 6 individuos) y 80% (leve, en 24 individuos) con el p-valor = 0,0035 (p < 0,05). Hubo una diferencia significativa entre el grupo de estudio y el de control, siendo el valor p = 0,0099 (p < 0,05). Hubo reabsorcion espontaneo significativa en el 22,22% de la muestra con Hernia de disco Lumbar (p < 0,05), con periodo medio de intervalo de 13,03 meses entre el primero y los segundos examenes de IRM. El tratamiento conservador logro mejores resultados en los individuos con Hernia discal Lumbar, aunque no se ha encontrado en nuestro estudio correlacion entre el nivel de dolor con los examenes de IRM, porque el proceso de reabsorcion del nucleo pulposo todavia no esta totalmente esclarecido, siendo necesarias investigaciones futuras sobre el asunto.
