    Abstract:

    With the advent of modern states, a Mandatory Relationship and interaction emerged between compulsory education, military service, and the practices of citizenship. Producing a loyal citizen required a disciplined, central, and compulsory education. In the nineteenth century when greatness was linked to armament, education was considered a vital aspect of social and military mobilisation. For this reason, rituals and practices in favour of military service were included in many education programmes. New applications were introduced and military themes integrated into courses such as physical education, gymnastics, history, and geography. Similar initiatives were seen in the Ottoman Empire in the second half of the nineteenth century. Thereafter, military education and paramilitary organisations which became popular during the First World War gained another dimension in the republican period that followed the collapse of the empire. Military service preparation was made a compulsory course at every educational level in Turkey in 1926, and included an annual 20-day camping exercise. The programme is a little-investigated topic of Turkish education history but is widely considered to have played a key role in shaping social attitudes in the country. This article reports the findings of an analysis of first-hand sources and archive documents relating to the Military Service Preparatory Programme in Turkey between 1926 and 1947 and its lasting effects.

    The current reform of the planning system has come up with new requirements on the Mandatory content.This paper focuses on its compilation techniques.Firstly,the paper conducts an analysis on the Mandatory Relationship and contents within the planning system from direct and indirect aspects,and concludes that current Mandatory contents are "multi-targeted"and have "multitools."Secondly,based on the main purpose of this institution,the paper tries to construct a new content scope and to form a new regulation system.Finally,several proposals have been made,which includes strengthening the compliance of regulatory plan in master plan which ensures the Mandatory content delivery in the planning system,promoting the supporting institution,encouraging relevant supporting technology applications,etc.

    In recent years, in schools, sex and Relationship education (SRE) has developed as a subject and become a bigger part of the National Curriculum in the UK. Indeed, 2020 sees the introduction of Mandatory Relationship education in all primary and secondary schools, and Mandatory sex education in secondary schools. Although studies have explored some of the impact of autistic spectrum condition upon the use of SRE programmes, this has primarily centred upon attitudes of families and professionals. This PhD attempted to explore the views and opinions of SRE from the point of view of both SRE co-ordinators and pupils with autistic spectrum condition. These were qualitative studies employing the use of 1:1 interviews with SRE co-ordinators from schools providing for pupils with autistic spectrum condition. This was followed by focus groups with pupils with autistic spectrum condition. The results suggested that the present SRE programmes being used within school were inadequate concerning the teaching of the more abstract socio-sexual world. This includes topics such as Relationships, online world and consent. As a consequence, pupils with autistic spectrum condition felt unprepared for the wider world beyond school, including a feeling of vulnerability. These two qualitative studies aided the development of an SRE programme which was implemented with two groups of pupils in two schools for pupils with autistic spectrum condition. Two measures were conducted with each pupil pre and post intervention. Results indicated improvements in the understanding of consent and abuse of the participants and some improvement in sexual knowledge. Although the results were positive, there were limitations affecting the generalisation of the programme. Such difficulties included the limited amount of pupils and schools within which the programme could be implemented, and the measures used. However, this study has provided a foundation for further research utilising further pilot sites.

    Atrial septostomy is performed in patients with severe pulmonary arterial hypertension, and has been shown to improve symptoms, quality of life and survival. Despite recognized clinical benefits, the underlying pathophysiologic mechanisms are poorly understood. We aimed to assess the effects of right-to-left shunting on arterial delivery of oxygen, mixed venous content of oxygen, and systemic cardiac output in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension and a fixed flow of blood to the lungs. We formulated equations defining the Mandatory Relationship between physiologic variables and delivery of oxygen in patients with right-to-left shunting. Using calculus and computer modelling, we considered the simultaneous effects of right-to-left shunting on physiologies with different pulmonary flows, total metabolic rates, and capacities for carrying oxygen. Our study indicates that, when the flow of blood to the lungs is fixed, increasing right-to-left shunting improves systemic cardiac output, arterial blood pressure, and arterial delivery of oxygen. In contrast, the mixed venous content of oxygen, which mirrors the average state of tissue oxygenation, remains unchanged. Our model suggests that increasing the volume of right-to-left shunting cannot compensate for right ventricular failure. Atrial septostomy in the setting of pulmonary arterial hypertension, therefore, increases the arterial delivery of oxygen, but the mixed systemic saturation of oxygen, arguably the most important index of tissue oxygenation, stays constant. Our data suggest that the clinically observed beneficial effects of atrial septostomy are the result of improved flow of blood rather than augmented tissue oxygenation, provided that right ventricular function is adequate.
