Se obtuvo por el método de arrastre con vapor de agua. Se evaluó el efecto antibacteriano utilizando el método de disco-difusión en agar; para ello, E. coli se expuso a 4 grupos de agentes: aceite esencial de manzanilla + ciprofloxacino; aceite esencial de manzanilla; ciprofloxacino y Dimetil Sulfóxido, realizándose 10 repeticiones por cada grupo. Se observó que la sinergia del aceite esencial de M. chamomilla con Ciprofloxacino, tuvo más efecto antibacteriano (28,2 mm) que el aceite esencial de M. chamomilla solo (20,2) mm), sin embargo Ciprofloxacino (33,50) fue más eficaz. Thirty male Wistar rats were subjected to a linear 3 cm incision made over the skin of the back. The animals were randomly divided into three experimental groups, as control, olive oil, and treatment. Control group did not receive any drug or cold cream. Olive oil group received topical olive oil once a day from beginning of experiments to complete wound closure. Treatment group were treated topically by M. chamomilla extract dissolved in olive oil at the same time. For computing the percentage of wound healing, the area of the wound measured at the beginning of experiments and the next 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, and 20 days. The percentage of wound healing was calculated by Walker formula after measurement of the wound area. an experimental study of the effects of Matricaria chamomilla extract on cutaneous burn wound healing in albino rats
Natural Product Research, 2008Co-Authors: Morteza JarrahiAbstract:Previous studies conducted on the anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant effects of Matricaria chamomilla (chamomile) extract led us to study the effect of topical chamomile extract on burn wound healing in albino rats. Thirty male albino rats (250–300 g) were randomly divided into three groups, as control, vehicle, and treatment. Second–degree burning was induced in 20% of whole surface area of animal body by placing the back of animal into boiling water for 8s. Animals of control group received no treatment. Animals of vehicle and treatment groups were treated topically by olive oil and extract dissolved in olive oil twice a day respectively from the first day of burn induction to complete wound healing. The percentage of wound healing was calculated weekly. The results showed that there was significant difference (p < 0.05) between vehicle and treatment groups. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio de tipo experimental, transversal. La población estuvo conformada por cultivos de Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, a la que se le aplicó el extracto etanólico de Matricaria chamomilla “Manzanilla”, la cual se enfrentó a 6 grupos, 4 de ellos con extracto etanólico al 25%, 50%, 75% y 100%, un control (-) etanol y un control interno Gentamicina 10ug, para determinar la inhibición del crecimiento bacteriano por halos de inhibición y la concentración mínima bactericida (CMB) mediante el recuento de unidades formadoras de colonias (UFC). Resultados: Se observó que el extracto etanólico de Matricaria chamomilla “Manzanilla” presentó efecto inhibitorio in vitro a partir de las concentraciones de 75% sobre cepas de Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, utilizando el Método de difusión en Pozo de Agar. La concentración mínima bactericida fue a la concentración del 75%. Efecto cicatrizante del gel elaborado con extracto etanólico de las flores de Matricaria chamomilla l. (manzanilla) en ratones albinos

(manzanilla) presenta efecto cicatrizante en ratones albinos. La muestra vegetal fue recolectada en el Biohuerto Santa Rosa – Lima y la especie fue confirmada taxonómicamente. Se usaron las flores de esta planta para elaboración del gel tópico a diferentes concentraciones. Se utilizaron ratones albinos provenientes del bioterio de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos de 4 a 5 meses de edad, separados en 6 grupos de 5 individuos aleatoriamente: grupo blanco, control negativo (gel base), control positivo (Cicatricure®) y tres grupos experimentales (10%, 15% y 20%, del gel elaborado). Aplicándose los geles en el tercio superior del lomo del animal previamente depilados. Resultados de la marcha fitoquímica evidenciaron metabolitos importantes como flavonoides. En test de cicatrización, todos los grupos experimentales evidenciaron un mejor proceso de cicatrización cuando comparados con el grupo blanco (p0,05). No obstante, en estudios histopatológicos se observó reacción inflamatoria acompañada de mayor fibrosis en dermis, posiblemente por presencia excesiva de flavonoides en gel. Este fenómeno no se evidenció en el gel a concentración del 15% del extracto. Se concluye que el gel elaborado a partir del extracto etanólico de manzanilla presenta efecto cicatrizante enratones albinos.The objective was to determine if the gel of the ethanolic extract of the flowers of Matricaria chamomilla L.
