The new species can be distinguished from congeners occurring in the region by the pronotum of the apterous form covering almost the entire thorax dorsally, proepisternum with black denticles, male abdominal segments V-VII ventrally depressed, shape of the asymmetrical parameres, and female abdominal laterotergites reflected over the mediotergites and almost touching over segments V-VII.

New records of Gerromorpha (Insecta: Hemiptera: Heteroptera) from Costa Rica

Aiming to fill this gap, specimens collected across the country were examined. Lipogomphus leucostictus, Hydrometra alloiona, H. australis, H. huallagana, Microvelia albonotata, M. argentata, M. laesslei, M. mimula, M. panamensis, M. psilonota, M. pulchella, M. signata, and M. torquata are newly recorded from Costa Rica. Presences of Hebrus concinnus, Mesovelia amoena, and Platyvelia brachialis are confirmed. New provincial records are provided for Hebrus consolidus, H. spiculus, Hydrometra caraiba, Mesovelia mulsanti, Mesoveloidea williamsi, Microvelia reflexa, M. schmidti, and Stridulivelia cinctipes.

Microvelia inguapi sp. n. and M. piedrancha sp. n. are herein described and compared with similar species. An identification key to the Colombian species of Microvelia is presented.

Direct enantiomeric separation was performed using a Cyclodex B chiral capillary column.

Enantiomerically pure (—)-menthone and (+)-isomenthone were detected in many oils of Mentha, Micromeria fruticosa (L.) Druce and Calamintha incana (Sm.) Heldr. High enantiomeric purities of (+)-menthone and (—)-isomenthone were detected in commercial and freshly distilled geranium oils.

The 4 established variants are SRPS I (Saldino-Noonan type), SRPS II (Majewski type; 263520), SRPS III (Verma-Naumoff type; 263510), and SRPS IV (Beemer-Langer type; 269860). All variants are thought to be inherited in autosomal recessive pattern. Because of the frequent phenotype overlap there is controversy as to whether the variants are due to variable expression or to genetic heterogeneity. We present a case of a male fetus, with typical ultrasound markers of skeletal dysplasia such as Micromelia, bell shaped narrow thorax, hypertelorism, low implantation ears and polidactily who was born by vaginal delivery and died two days later due to respiratory insufficiency present since birth.El síndrome costillas cortas polidactilia es una categoría descriptiva para un grupo de displasias esqueléticas incompatibles con la vida, caracterizadas por tórax estrecho, costillas extremadamente pequeñas, Micromelia, polidactilia y anomalías viscerales.
