    Zhu De is a great strategist and one of ten marshals in China.When it will be Zhu De's 120th anniversary,there is an extremely important practical significance to do the research on his Military Education thought.In the article it analyzes and considers the origin,the review and the enlightenment of Zhu De's Military Education thought in the anti-Japanese war.Thus,we can correctly appraise his Military Education thought,and can enable its Military Education thought to make the new contribution to better constructing the harmonious society in contemporary China.

    ABSTRACTThe International Military Education and Training program is the United States security assistance program that provides professional Military Education to officers from foreign militaries. As a tool of soft power, the program has the potential of helping the United States achieve its foreign and national security goals. Despite the potential benefits of the program, research on its effectiveness is limited. The present study contributes to the literature by inquiring into what benefits toward acquiring an understanding of democratic values and the United States society are expressed by foreign officers who have participated in the program.

  • Contemporary challenges in Military Education – Macedonian Military Academy in the context

    Abstract:

    This paper evaluates latest reforms in the Macedonian Military Education system. Both, contemporary challenges in Military Education and Euro-Atlantic commitment have shaped transformation of Military Education and training system in the Republic of Macedonia. Hence, these dynamics urged the redefinition of the role and responsibilities of the Military Academy “General Mihailo Apostolski” – Skopje. As a result, today, the Military Academy educates, trains and produces young Military and civilian leaders ready to meet contemporary security challenges that affect the defence system, crisis management and disaster risk reduction sector, not only in Macedonia, but in the region of South East Europe as well. The paper explains how the Education curricula at the Military Academy reconcile with the European credit transfer system’s requirements on the one hand, and the principles of modern warfare and security challenges on the other. In addition, the paper touches on gender issues in Military Education, and implementation of information technology in Military Education.

    Abstract:

    Countries are responsible for the Education and training of the members of their armed forces. Military Education can be observed as an independent system in regards to its purpose, the preparation of Military leaders for contemporary Military operations and non-Military missions. Besides the training for performing combat skill and training, it is also directed towards acquisition of skill for responsibility, critical thinking and initiative in modern ways of performing operations. The Republic of Macedonia implements Military Education through interdisciplinary programs realized at the Military Academy in Skopje. Within the paper there was also a research conducted on the first generation of cadets (N=34) by questionnaires. This helped in getting a more realistic picture of the quality and effectiveness of each of the subjects of the curriculum of the first cycle of studies at the Military Academy. The main purpose of this paper is to give appropriate scientific analyses of the real and effective use of the subjects of the first year of study at the Military Academy. The conclusions can then be considered and used as guidelines for eventual changes in the direction of upgrade of the system of Military Education.

    Abstract:

    In this paper, we evaluated latest reforms in the system for Military Education in the Republic of Macedonia, and in line with that, we considered development and enhancement of gender integration in Military Education and training. Based on the determination for NATO and EU membership a need for transformation of Military Education and training system has emerged, and in line with that redefinition of the role and responsibilities of the Military Academy. Starting from the summary of the requirements for Military Education and conditions in which this system is developing, together with the ins uences of modern warfare on this system are considered. Evaluation of the curricula of Military Education, following with the need for permanent continuous Education during the carrier is given. In the paper we stress the importance of having a gender perspective as an integral part of Military activities, and that all Military personnel should be gender aware. We evaluated some of the priority challenges involved in integrating gender issues into Military Education and training, and considered social barriers to greater employment of women in defense. In addition, we considered representation of women in different levels and programs of Military Education. These paper indicate that not all levels of Military Education are equally accessible to female and male candidates, despite the principle of equal opportunities in place. Unfortunately, topics related to gender equality and gender-based violence are only partially integrated in the curricula of Military Academy. There is still no in-depth curriculum that specifically addresses gender-based and sexual violence, and provides security sector personnel with appropriate training to properly address these issues.
