Cardiac rehabilitation is an interdisciplinary activity with the aim of facilitating and improving the physical, psychological and emotional state of the patients with cardiac complications. This study aimed to evaluate the probable positive effects of continuing cardiac rehabilitation programs at home on self-efficacy of the patients with cardiac complications. Method: In a randomized controlled trial, 80 patients referred to rehabilitation center from Feb 2009 to Jan 2010 were randomly divided into case and control groups. Both groups received routine cardiac rehabilitation programs in the rehabilitation center. In addition, the case group received education and practical training in various rehabilitation measures along with home visits of a community health nurse throughout the follow-up period. General Self Efficacy Scale (GSES) was used to assess self-efficacy between two groups at baseline and follow-up periods. Collected data from GSES questionnaires were analyzed using Minitab Software and repeated measurement analysis model. Results: No first time (before beginning of rehabilitation program) GESE differences were observed between case (26.36 ± 0.84) and control (28.53 ± 0.54) groups (P = 0.44). In the final measurement, GESE in case group was 36.59 ± 5.65 vs. 26.5 ± 0.91 in the control group. There was a statistically significant difference in self-efficacy between two groups and in different measurements (P = 0.000). Conclusion: Home-based cardiac rehabilitation has a positive effect on patients’ self-efficacy and therefore it is recommended for the patients suffering from heart diseases. Journal of Jimei University, 2013Co-Authors: Peng AihongAbstract:The principle of orthogonal experimental design with duplicate test is preliminary introduced.The methods for orthogonal design and results analysis by the module of Taguchi design and the module of analysis of variance of Minitab Software are expounded.The results show that Minitab Software is capable of swift orthogonal design and direct,rapid and accurate data processing and results analysis,which gives the advantage of simple operation and control,precise calculation and good compatibility.And thus Minitab is recommended as Software to be expanded in application of the data processing in orthogonal design.

simultaneous optimisation of average kerf taper and surface roughness during pulsed nd yag laser cutting of thin al alloy sheet for straight profile
International Journal of Manufacturing Technology and Management, 2013Co-Authors: Amit Sharma, Vinod YadavaAbstract:This paper presents an application of DOE-based hybrid approach for the determination of preferred operating laser cutting parameters which minimises the average kerf taper (Ta) and average surface roughness (Ra) together during pulsed Nd: YAG laser cutting of thin aluminium alloy sheet for straight profile. The hybrid approach, comprises of Taguchi methodology (TM) and response surface methodology (RSM), has been applied to achieve the better cut qualities within the existing resources. The input process parameters taken are oxygen pressure, pulse width, pulse frequency and cutting speed. The approach first uses the Taguchi quality loss function to find the optimum level of laser cutting parameters. The optimum values of input cutting parameters so obtained are further used as a central value in RSM. Further, the experiments are conducted by using the central composite rotatable design (CCRD) matrix. Subsequently, the laser cutting parameters have been optimised by using the Minitab Software. The application of hybrid approach has reduced Ta by 15% whereas it has been reduced by 6.7% with the application of TM only.

The hybrid approach comprises of Taguchi methodology (TM) and response surface methodology (RSM). The input process parameters taken are oxygen pressure pulse width pulse frequency and cutting speed. The experimental output characteristics of interest in Ni-based superalloy thin sheet cutting are average kerf taper (Ta) and average surface roughness (Ra). First the values of optimum input parameters are obtained using TM only. The optimum value of input parameters so obtained are further used as central value in RSM. Further experiments are performed using central composite rotatable design (CCRD) matrix. Finally second order response surface models are developed as well as optimum parameters are found using Minitab Software. A remarkable improvement in both the quality characteristics is found when hybrid approach is applied as compared to application of Taguchi approach only.

It is widely used in the process of making molds and dies and sections of compound geometry and intricate shapes. The work piece material selected in this experiment is SAE-8620 alloy steel taking into account its wide usage in industrial applications. In today’s world SAE-8620 alloy steel contribute to almost half of the world’s production and consumption for industrial purposes. The input variable parameters are current, pulse on time and duty cycle. With the help of Minitab Software an orthogonal array of input variables was created using the design of experiments (DOE). The effect of the variable parameters mentioned above upon machining characteristics such as material removal rate (MRR), tool wear rate (TWR) is calculated and investigated. The tool material is copper, brass.The results reveal that the primary factor affecting the MRR is peak current subsequently followed by material, duty cycle and pulse on time, In case of TWR the primary factor affecting TWR is material then duty cycle and current at last spark on time.
