The obtained results have been used to initiate rigorous simulations, to determine the number of stages required in different sections, as well as to obtain internal flows of vapour and liquid necessary for dimensioning and adequate cost estimation for two design alternatives. Based on the comparison of total annualised costs it appears that a multi-Partition wall configuration that maximizes energy efficiency is a more attractive option for implementation in aromatics processing plants than more practical single Partition wall configuration.

The use of Multiple Partition sizes in H.264/AVC makes it even more complicated when compared to ME in conventional video coding standards. It is important to develop fast and effective sub-pixel ME algorithms since: 1) the computation overhead by sub-pixel ME has become relatively significant while the complexity of integer-pixel search has been greatly reduced by fast algorithms, and 2) reducing sub-pixel search points can greatly save the computation for sub-pixel interpolation. In this letter, a novel fast sub-pixel ME algorithm is proposed which performs a “rough” sub-pixel search before the Partition selection, and performs a “precise” sub-pixel search for the best Partition. By reducing the searching load for the large number of non-best Partitions, the computation complexity for sub-pixel search can be greatly decreased. Experimental results show that our method can reduce the sub-pixel search points by more than 50% compared to existing fast sub-pixel ME methods with negligible quality degradation.

Segmentation of video sequences for Partition tree generation.
Annales Des Télécommunications, 1997Co-Authors: M. Pardas, Philippe SalembierAbstract:In this paper we propose a segmentation structure to generate a Partition tree with Multiple Partition proposals. These Multiple Partitions are obtained for every image in a hierarchical way, from the coarsest one to the finest one. Time evolution of the regions is defined through a projection step which relates the previous coded Partition with the current Partition tree. Finer Partitions than the projected one are defined segmenting the projected Partition using texture criteria, while coarser Partitions are obtained merging regions with motion criteria. Morphological tools are used both in the projection and the re-segmentation steps.

MorrosAbstract:In this paper we describe a very low bit rate video cod- ing system that belongs to the class of object-based coding systems. The system takes advantage of homogeneity in both gray level and motion, trying to use the most ade- quate criterion for defining a Partition in order to obtain the best compromise between cost and quality. In order to do so, Multiple Partitions are generated for every image in a hierarchical way, from the coarsest one to the finest one. Then, a decision step will chose which parts of the image need to be coded with regions from one Partition or from another. The aim of the paper is to study the features that this Multiple Partition must have, and propose a way to create it.
