    Abstract:

    In this article, I explore local social and cultural dynamics in the context of the National Integration of ethnic minorities. My case concerns a Mien population in Thailand and describes various engagements of local and National spaces that center on issues of fun. Sports competitions and culture shows resonate with other projects that reinforce the centrality of villages in contemporary social life. For the Mien, these dynamics index a shift from the household to the village as the subject of action.     Farm mathematics, an aspect of agricultural science education is being taught in our educational institutions in the country. This effort is to enhance agricultural productivity and quality of agricultural science education for National Integration. For the realization of this, a quality assured educational administration is vital. The paper therefore dwells on the concepts of quality assurance, educational administration, farm mathematics and National Integration. Quality assurance issues in educational administration germane to farm mathematics instruction for National Integration are also looked at. The paper then recommends that there should be focused and faithful implementation of quality assurance policy guidelines in our institutions, among others.     Abstract:

    National Integration is the hallmark of unity and development in any polity. A multiethnic state requires potent Integration mechanisms because multi-ethnicity is a potential political ‘time-bomb’ which may explode at any time. There is the need to position integrating mechanisms which will stem the tide of violence, favoritism and nepotism in the polity. Nigeria like many developing countries of the world is a multiethnic state and needs a potent National integrative mechanism. The federal character principle is identified in this paper as a mechanism used in Nigeria. This integrative prowess had caused the country a tempo gusto but to a large extent had been corrupted and rendered less effective by the interplay of the duo of ethnic chauvinism and religious bigotry. This paper concludes by remarking that the notion of political patrimony and corruption must be curbed by the stakeholders for a sustainable development in the policy.

    Abstract:

    Malaysia is a multicultural country constituting three major ethno-cultural groups, Malay and Bumiputera, Chinese and Indian. Owing to its diverse cultures attempts through a number of channels, politics, economics and social were made to bring about National Integration. School is thought to be the most effective platform to bring about National Integration based on the multicultural framework. This study examines the influence of both the selected school and student background variables on Integration. The survey conducted on Form Four and Form Five students found that Integration is not monolithic but tends to be interpreted into three frameworks or models: assimilation, multiple-identities and multiculturalism. Ethno-religious-cultural backgrounds seem to be much more influential than the school variables in determining not only the strength but also student preference for a specific Integration framework or model..
