    Abstract:

    ContextEnterprise Architecture (EA) is a strategy to align business and Information Technology (IT) within an enterprise. EA is managed, developed, and maintained throughout the EA Implementation Methodology (EAIM). ObjectiveThe aims of this study are to identify the existing effective practices that are used by existing EAIMs, identify the factors that affect the effectiveness of EAIM, identify the current tools that are used by existing EAIMs, and identify the open problems and areas related to EAIM for improvement. MethodA Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was carried out. 669 papers were retrieved by a manual search in 6 databases and 46 primary studies were finally included. ResultFrom these studies 33% were journal articles, 41% were conference papers while 26% were contributions from the studies consisted of book chapters. Consequently, 28 practices, 19 factors, and 15 tools were identified and analysed. ConclusionSeveral rigorous researches have been done in order to provide effective EAIM, however there are still problems in components of EAIM, including: there is lack of tool support for whole part of EA implementation, there are deficiency in addressing the EAIM's practices especially in modeling, management, and maintenance, there is lack of consideration on non-functional requirement in existing EAIM, there is no appropriate consideration on requirement analysis in most existing EAIM. This review provides researchers with some guidelines for future research on this topic. It also provides broad information on EAIM, which could be useful for practitioners.

    Abstract:

    In a web application, being a non-quality requirement, usability has been quite a concern for a product to be more successful and efficient for users in the competitive market. The user-centric design methodology is also based on usability design. Even usability is just a non-functional requirement but usability analysis and design can impact the behavioral requirement of a web application to a great extent. The review and feedback sessions are done during prototype design and sometimes like in the agile XP process during the user interface designing step. A web application is built on a collection of defined HTML controls and components. Our ultimate goal would be to model a guideline of usability requirements for different web application components based on different characteristics of usability like learnability, efficiency, memorability, error recovery, flexibility. In this paper, we have evaluated a composite usability requirements model based on the usability requirement attributes & principals and categorization of the web application components based on web application design and interaction context.

    Abstract:

    This paper proposes a measurement method to measure the non-functional portability software requirement. The proposed method complies with the COSMIC ISO 19761 measurement method standard. The details of the design steps are presented and explained. This paper also includes an analysis and possible utilizations of the method results into the various estimation models. Applying the proposed method can be beneficial to estimate the development time and/or the quality assurance efforts to develop/certify portable software on the various environments supported.

    Abstract:

    Reliability is typically described initially as a non functional requirement at the system level. Systems engineers must subsequently apportion these system requirements very carefully as either software or hardware requirements to conform to the reliability requirements of the system. A number of concepts are provided in the ECSS, ISO 9126, and IEEE standards to describe the various types of candidate reliability requirements at the system, software, and hardware levels. This paper organizes these concepts into a generic standards-based reference model of the requirements at the software level for system reliability. The structure of this reference model is based on the generic model of software requirements proposed in the COSMIC -- ISO 19761 model, thereby allowing the measurement of the functional size of such reliability requirements implemented through software.

    The European ECSS-E-40 series of standards for the aerospace industry includes interfaces as one of 16 types of non functional requirement (NFR) for embedded and real-time software. An interface is typically described at the system level as a non functional requirement, and a number of concepts and terms are provided in that series to describe various types of candidate interfaces. This paper collects and organizes these interface-related descriptions into a generic model for the specification of software interface requirements, and to measure their functional size for estimation purposes using the COSMIC ISO 19761 standard.

    Abstract:

    Reasoning is critical for non-functional requirements (NFRs) analysis and verification. Furthermore, it can provide rationale about implementation strategies for NFRs. The existing tools can execute an interactive reasoning process which sometimes needs extra information from stakeholders. We build a tool called rΣ for reasoning on NFR models especially when extra information is unavailable or forbidden, like at the model verification stage. This tool employs the formula style model as the input, automatically promotes the reasoning process till the root node, and returns all the satisficing statuses and the complete rationale as the output. We have applied rΣ into the real practice and to evaluate its efficiency.

    Although the term 'non-functional requirement' has been in use for more than 20 years, there is still no consensus in the requirements engineering community what non-functional requirements are and how we should elicit, document, and validate them. On the other hand, there is a unanimous consensus that non-functional requirements are important and can be critical for the success of a project. This paper surveys the existing definitions of the term, highlights and discusses the problems with the current definitions, and contributes concepts for overcoming these problems.
