The Serials Librarian, 1999Co-Authors: Allen PowellAbstract:Abstract This session explored the current and future pricing of STM information distribution with three speakers representing the subscription agent, the Nonprofit Publisher, and the library perspectives. Allen Powell presented current pricing characteristics and trends of STM journals published in print and electronic formats. Malcolm Getz focused on journal Publishers who contemplate distributing their titles in electronic format and are concerned that revenues will remain sufficient to sustain operations should print sales decline. Novel Research Impact Indicators
'Adam Mickiewicz University Poznan', 2015Co-Authors: Fenner Martin, Lin JenniferAbstract:Cytowania przytaczane w literaturze światowej, a ostatnio statystyki wykorzystania materiału naukowego dostarczające informacji na temat zainteresowania i oddźwięku, jakie zdobywają publikacje naukowe, nadal pozostają ważnymi wskaźnikami wpływu w ocenie publikacji. Ukazują one bowiem widoczny wkład danej pracy naukowej w rozwój nauki i badań. Citation counts and more recently usage statistics provide valuable information about the attention and research impact associated with scholarly publications. The open access Publisher Public Library of Science (PLOS), a Nonprofit Publisher and advocacy organization founded to accelerate progress in science and medicine by leading a transformation in research communication, has pioneered the concept of article-level metrics, where these metrics are collected on a per article and not a per journal basis and are complemented by real-time data from the social web or altmetrics: blog posts, social bookmarks, social media and other
