  • Le Digital Object Identifier, une impérieuse nécessité ? L'exemple de l'attribution de DOI à la Collection Pangloss, archive ouverte de langues en danger
    A.D.B.S., 2020
Co-Authors: Vasile Aurelia, Guillaume Séverine, Aouini Mourad, Michaud Alexis
    Abstract:

International audienceThe Pangloss Collection is an open archive of endangered languages, developed over more than twenty years in what would currently be called an Open Science perspective: to arrive at a close association between documentation and research, for their mutual benefit. The article looks back at the general topic of resource identification, and at the current “socio-scientific” context, in order to put into perspective the somewhat paradoxical choice of assigning a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to each document in the Pangloss Collection. The stages of implementation are also outlined, broaching methodological as well as technical topics.

  • examining success factors in the adoption of digital Object Identifier systems
Electronic Commerce Research and Applications, 2011
Co-Authors: Sungbum Park, Hangjung Zo, Andrew P. Ciganek
    Abstract:

Systems for identifying and managing digital Objects are becoming essential for digital content providers as the growth of the digital content market accelerates. Not much research has been done to examine the successful adoption of digital Object Identifier systems. This study examines the success factors for the adoption of digital Object Identifier systems by extending DeLone and McLean's information systems success model. A large-scale field study targeting digital content providers in Korea was employed to empirically validate a research model. Data was collected from 120 respondents from 41 digital content providers. The results indicate that information quality is the strongest factor to influence organizational benefits through perceived usefulness and user satisfaction. The syndication efforts of digital content providers can be a moderator in the successful adoption of digital Object Identifier systems. This has implications for how practitioners can best communicate the features and benefits of digital Object Identifier systems and provides additional support for researchers to examine the underutilized construct of organizational benefit. Limitations of this study are discussed in addition to concluding remarks.

  • watermarking two dimensional data Object Identifier for authenticated distribution of digital multimedia contents
    Signal Processing-image Communication, 2010
    Co-Authors: Sungbum Park
    Abstract:

A digital Object Identifier refers to diverse technologies associated with assigning an Identifier to a digital resource and managing the identification system. One type of implementation of a digital Object Identifier developed by the Korean Government is termed the Universal Content Identifier (UCI) system. It circulates and utilizes identifiable resources efficiently by connecting various online and offline identifying schemes. UCI tags can contain not only Identifiers but also abundant additional information regarding contents. So, researchers and practitioners have shown great interest in methods that utilize the two-dimensional barcode (2D barcode) to attach UCI tags to digital contents. However, attaching a 2D barcode directly to a digital content raises two problems. First, quality of the content may deteriorate due to the insertion of the barcode; second, a malicious user can invalidate the identifying tag, simply by removing the tag from the original content. We believe that these concerns can be mitigated by inserting an invisible digital tag containing information about an Identifier and digital copyrights into the entire area of the digital content. In this study, to protect copyrights of digital contents securely without quality degradation, we attempt to discover a sequence of process for generating a 2D barcode from a UCI tag and watermarking the barcode into a digital content. Such a UCI system can be widely applied to areas such as e-learning, distribution tracking, transaction certification, and reference linking services when the system is equipped with 2D barcode technology and secure watermarking algorithms. The latter part of this paper analyzes intensive experiments conducted to evaluate the robustness of traditional digital watermarking algorithms against external attacks.

  • o digital Object Identifier doi em periodicos cientificos eletronicos de comunicacao e informacao
RDBCI: Revista Digital de Biblioteconomia e Ciência da Informação, 2017
Co-Authors: Erik Andre De Nazare Pires, Antonio Afonso Pereira, Carla Daniella Teixeira Girard, Cristiane Marina Teixeira Girard
    Abstract:

The present study seeks to investigate the use of the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) in the scientific journals of Communication and Information and, providing new integration utilities with the Lattes Platform. In this sense, it aims to inform the existing titles in Communication Information in electronic format, demonstrate the importance of DOI in the integration with the Lattes Platform in order to guarantee author credibility and analyze the characteristics of publications that have DOI. The methodology used for the development of this study is bibliographic, research with descriptive-descriptive characteristics. From the development of the research, it is inferred that of all the analyzed journals (33 journals), 10 titles in the evaluation of 2013 and 06 titles of the evaluation of 2014 present DOI in their publications, all have WebQualis classification, Qualis A1 in the area Communication and Information. Most publications are international and only 3 titles are national. It is necessary that journals, principally national ones, accompany new technologies such as DOI for Objects and ORCID for the identification of people, bringing more mechanisms that guarantee authors 'credibility and to bring the researchers' connection, and both can already be adopted in the Platform Lattes.
