  • Anesthetic management of ophthalmic surgery.
    Korean journal of anesthesiology, 2009
    Co-Authors: Yong Hun Jung
    Abstract:

Ophthalmic surgery presents challenges for the anesthesiologists, including control of intraOcular pressure, prevention and management of the oculocardiac reflex. In addition to understanding Ocular Anatomy and physiology, the anesthesiologists must have possess technical expertise and knowledge of ophthalmic drug's systemic effects. Patients undergoing ophthalmic surgery have extremes of age and several medical diseases, like as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, coronary heart disease, chronic renal failure, and chronic obstructive lung disease. Anesthesiologist should be knowledgeable about the content as stated above to perform safe and desirable anesthesia for ophthalmic surgery.

  • risk factors and open angle glaucoma classification and application
    Journal of Glaucoma, 2007
    Co-Authors: Michael V Boland, Harry A Quigley
    Abstract:

Decades of epidemiologic research into open-angle glaucoma have elucidated several risk factors related in some way to the disease. As more and more risk factors are identified, however, assessing their individual and collective contributions in a particular patient is becoming increasingly complicated. To help organize our knowledge of risk in glaucoma we first review some concepts of risk and then propose a scheme that places known risk factors into categories (state of the individual, Ocular Anatomy and physiology, signs of disease, non-glaucoma medications, and personal behaviors) and also indicates how each factor interacts with disease (incidence, prevalence, progression, therapy.) We also describe methods for using risk factors in clinical practice and describe ways that a large and complex body of knowledge can be applied to individual patients.

  • Pediatric Cataract Surgery
Journal of ophthalmic and vision research, 2009
    Co-Authors: Mohammad Ali Javadi
    Abstract:

Several aspects of cataract surgery in children differ from adults. Ocular Anatomy, cataract morphology, exaggerated response to surgical trauma, and the need for amblyopia therapy are major concerns in pediatric cataract surgery. Moreover, intraoperative differences such as location and type of incisions, management of anterior and posterior capsules and need for anterior vitrectomy are other important issues to be considered. Achieving a successful result depends on adhering to all the pre-, intra- and postoperative considerations and their proper management.

  • Dictionary of Optometry and Visual Science.
    British Journal of Ophthalmology, 1998
    Co-Authors: Chris Dickinson
    Abstract:

Dictionary of Optometry and Visual Science. 4th ed. By M Millodot. Pp 296. £30. Oxford: Butterworth-Heinemann, 1997. ISBN 0-7506-3145-7. It would be churlish to be critical of this book. To have reached its fourth edition in 11 years, and have the previous edition reprinted three times suggests that it is doing something right. It is indeed a very useful reference book for optometrists and others with an involvement in optical science. The appeal to the student is its comprehensive nature: to have geometrical optics formulas alongside Ocular Anatomy makes it a daily companion. For the experienced practitioner too, it provides a concise reminder of dimly remembered definitions, and proof that there is always something new to learn. When I looked up the description given by colleagues of their method of measuring pupil size, I found …

  • Human Ocular Anatomy
    Clinics in dermatology, 2015
    Co-Authors: Barry D. Kels, Andrzej Grzybowski, Jane M. Grant-kels
    Abstract:

We review the normal Anatomy of the human globe, eyelids, and lacrimal system. This contribution explores both the form and function of numerous anatomic features of the human Ocular system, which are vital to a comprehensive understanding of the pathophysiology of many oculocutaneous diseases. The review concludes with a reference glossary of selective ophthalmologic terms that are relevant to a thorough understanding of many oculocutaneous disease processes.

  • Human Ocular Anatomy.
    Dermatologic clinics, 1992
    Co-Authors: Jane M. Grant-kels, Barry D. Kels
    Abstract:

An understanding of the Anatomy of the eye is the sine qua non for an appreciation of the pathophysiology of Ocular disease. This introductory article is a brief review and elucidation of the pertinent aspects of Ocular Anatomy. Also included is a glossary of opthalmologic terms that may help clarify some of the more esoteric terminology as the reader peruses the various articles in this issue.
