Using a Bayesian Vector Auto-regressive (BVAR) model and data from Jan 1985 to June 2016, our key findings suggest that the claim of macroeconomic policy interaction, interdependence and significance of coordinated policy operations for the financial stability holds its ground. The argument in the support for policy coordination for financial stability was found to be robust against the Jeffreys-Lindley’s paradox and in the Post-GFC era. A profound practical, Operational and philosophical implication of this study is the positive Aspects of Jeffreys-Lindley’s paradox and the possibility of employing the Frequentist and Bayesian estimation techniques as complementing rather competing frameworks.

Towards the Internet of Things for physical internet: Perspectives and challenges

To achieve the goal, the PI requires a high level interconnectivity in physical, informational, and Operational Aspect enabled by an interconnected network of inter-modal hubs, collaborative protocols, and standardized, modular, and smart containers. In this context, PI is a key player poised to benefit from the Internet of Things (IoT) revolution since it potentially provides an end-to-end visibility of the PI objects, operations, and systems through ubiquitous information exchange. This paper is to investigate opportunities of application of IoT technology in the PI vision. In addition, an IoT ecosystem (π-IoT) encompassing key enabling IoT technologies, building blocks, and a service-oriented architecture (SoA) is proposed as a potential component for accelerating the implementation of PI. The major challenges regarding the deployment of IoT into the emerging logistics concept are also discussed intensively for further research.

intrinsic randomness as a measure of quantum coherence
Physical Review A, 2015Co-Authors: Xiao Yuan, Hongyi Zhou, Zhu CaoAbstract:Based on the theory of quantum mechanics, intrinsic randomness in measurement distinguishes quantum effects from classical ones. From the perspective of states, this quantum feature can be summarized as coherence or superposition in a specific (classical) computational basis. Recently, by regarding coherence as a physical resource, Baumgratz et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 113, 140401 (2014)] presented a comprehensive framework for coherence measures. Here, we propose a quantum coherence measure essentially using the intrinsic randomness of measurement. The proposed coherence measure provides an answer to the open question in completing the resource theory of coherence. Meanwhile, we show that the coherence distillation process can be treated as quantum extraction, which can be regarded as an equivalent process of classical random number extraction. From this viewpoint, the proposed coherence measure also clarifies the Operational Aspect of quantum coherence. Finally, our results indicate a strong similarity between two types of quantumness\char22{}coherence and entanglement.
