  • Working with Recipients and Address Lists
    Microsoft Outlook 2007 Programming, 2007
    Co-Authors: Sue Mosher
    Abstract:

This chapter provides an overview of the key Outlook objects that represent information about recipients and Address lists. The Namespace.GetSharedDefaultFolder method requires a Recipient object as one of the parameters necessary to return a folder from another user's Exchange mailbox. This method provides an easy way to create a Recipient that is not attached to any message or other Outlook item. The Recipient object is also crucial in determining whether a user is available for a meeting at a particular time. The most basic Address-related object is the AddressEntry. The ExchangeUser and the ExchangeDistributionList objects inherit the properties and methods from the AddressEntry object. If a user has an Exchange mailbox, one or more Address lists related to the Exchange server will be present. The Exchange Global Address List is likely to contain the maximum information about each entry. All AddressList properties are read-only. The only technique in the Outlook object model related to showing or hiding an Address list is the ability to display any Outlook contacts folder as an Address list under the Outlook Address Book.

  • SIGCPR - Teaching electronic commerce (panel session)
Proceedings of the 2000 ACM SIGCPR conference on Computer personnel research - SIGCPR '00, 2000
    Co-Authors: Malu Roldan
    Abstract:

This panel will discuss various approaches and issues pertaining to the development and implementation of courses in Electronic Commerce — at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels. There has never been a better time to be teaching e-commerce. Web applications have evolved to a point where Gilder's “hollowing out the computer” seems almost achievable — as dot-com companies eager to build market share provide essential tools for the price of an eyeball (multiplied by the size of your Outlook Address Book). The same toolbox that is creating an exciting and accessible platform for building e-businesses can be used to build the e-commerce classes that introduce students to such endeavors. This situation makes it possible to augment local school platforms to design rich, portable e-commerce classes that teach students the fundamentals of e-business as well as empower them to stretch the definition of this evolving phenomenon. The panel will explore key issues and options for the design of e-commerce classes, including: the structure of e-commerce classes — types of requirements, amount of hands-on experience, amount of programming required; appropriate content for various types of classes and how to keep it current; textBook options — what's out there, what's coming up, how people have supplemented these texts; platform options — local programs vs. web-based applications, providing students with marketable skills; where to apply technology — in projects, small hands-on exercises, in class management and communications; and managing projects — client relationships, limiting project scope, and team management.

  • Army junior dental officer retention.
    Military medicine, 2005
Co-Authors: Nasrin Mazuji, Jeffrey G. Chaffin, Ronald R. Beer, A. David Mangelsdorff
    Abstract:

ABSTRACT Objectives: The objectives of the survey were to quantify the extent of indebtedness of junior dental officers and to determine the impact of a loan repayment program on career decisions. Methods: We designed a customized survey instrument because no preexisting, validated, survey instrument was available. A query was performed in the Medical Operations Data System to identify all captains (O-3) currently on active duty in the Army (N = 348). The survey sample included 64 junior officers with a 2000 date of rank to captain (O-3), of whom only 52 were in the Medical Command Outlook Address Book or the Army Knowledge Online white pages. The questionnaire was sent out to these targeted junior dental officers through their official e-mail accounts. Dentists assigned to Korea and to dental field units do not use the same e-mail system as the rest of the Dental Command; therefore, their Addresses were not available. In an attempt to increase response rates, commanders were asked to emphasize the import...
