Refrakter Romatoid Artrit Tedavisinde Terapötik Aferez Uygulamalari Applications of Therapeutic Apheresis in Treatment of Refractory Rheumatoid Arthritis
2014Co-Authors: Fatih YildizAbstract:Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic and progressive autoimmune disease of unknown cause. It is usually symmetrical, peripheral Joint involvement and inflammatory synovitis. The goals of treatment are pain relief, reduction of inflammation, Joint structures ensuring, functions protection and control of systemic involvement. Despite the new treatments in the last decade, especially in late or poorly treated cases, the disease causes Permanent Joint destruction. In this case, treatment of pain control and other methods could be used to restore Joint motion. Therapeutic apheresis applications could be suggested as alternative methods or supporting therapy in the treatment of refractory rheumatoid arthritis.

Optimization of 316 Stainless Steel Weld Joint Characteristics using Taguchi Technique
Procedia Engineering, 2014Co-Authors: P. Bharath, Vijay Sridhar, M. Senthil KumarAbstract:Abstract Welding is one of the most popular methods of metal joining processes. The joining of the materials by welding provides a Permanent Joint of the components. The objective of this research is used to determine the influence of various welding parameters on the weld bead of AISI 316 welded Joint. In this research work the ANOVA technique is used to identify the influence of the welding speed, current, electrode, root gap on the strength of the material. The result shows that speed is most influencing factor to have highest bend strength and current that is to be used while welding is the most influencing factor to get higher tensile strength.

Strategies for the Management of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Orthopedics, 2012Co-Authors: W S Wilkie, Philip SchwietermanAbstract:Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, systemic infl ammatory autoimmune disease affecting 1.3 million people in the United States.1 Rheumatoid arthritis is defi ned as persistent Joint infl ammation that is marked as Joint pain, stiffness, and swelling, resulting in progressive destruction of cartilage in the Joints.2 Although rheumatoid arthritis primarily targets the synovial lining of Joints, it has extra-articular effects, including the lungs, heart, and blood vessels.3 If untreated, rheumatoid arthritis can lead to Permanent Joint damage, a decrease in quality of life, and disability. Approximately 20% of patients are retired completely or partially within 2 years of disease onset, and 50% of patients are unable to work after 10 years.4 Furthermore, rheumatoid arthritis may reduce life expectancy between 2 and 18 years.5 As a result, rheumatoid arthritis is a burden on patients’ quality of life and health care systems.

Strategies for the Management of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Orthopedics, 2012Co-Authors: W S Wilkie, Philip SchwietermanAbstract:Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, systemic inflammatory autoimmune disease that, untreated, can lead to Permanent Joint damage, decrease in quality of life, and disability. Health care professionals play a vital role in caring for patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The therapeutic possibilities in the management of rheumatoid arthritis have changed, with newer biologic therapies that target the inflammatory cascade seen in rheumatoid arthritis. As new treatments become increasingly available, it is important for health care professionals to stay informed. This article provides physicians with a review of biologic therapies currently used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and describe how those therapies are used to manage rheumatoid arthritis.

Welding of titanium and stainless steel using the composite insert
2016Co-Authors: A. N. Cherepanov, Vyacheslav I. Mali, Anatolii M Orishich, A. G. Malikov, V. O. Drozdov, Y. N. MalyutinaAbstract:The paper concerns the possibility of obtaining a lasting Permanent Joint of dissimilar metals: technically pure titanium and stainless steel using laser welding and an intermediate composite insert. The insert was a four-layer composition of plates of steel, copper, niobium, and titanium welded by explosion. The material layers used in the insert prevented the molten steel and titanium from mixing, which excluded the formation of brittle intermetallic compounds, such as FeTi and Fe2Ti. The optimization of explosion welding parameters provided a high quality of the four-layer composition and the absence of defects in the area of the Joint of insert plates. The results of strength tests showed that values of the ultimate strength and yield of the Permanent Joint with the composite insert welded by explosion are comparable to the strength characteristics of titanium.
