Phosphorus Pentasulfide a mild and versatile catalyst reagent for the preparation of dithiocarboxylic esters
Organic Letters, 2000Co-Authors: Arumugam Sudalai, Subbareddy Kanagasabapathy, Brian C. BenicewiczAbstract:The reaction of carboxylic acids (1) with a variety of thiols or alcohols in the presence of Phosphorus Pentasulfide (P(4)S(10)) as a catalyst and reagent (20-40 mol %) proceeded effectively to afford the corresponding dithiocarboxylic esters (2) in high yields.

greener and rapid access to bio active heterocycles one pot solvent free synthesis of 1 3 4 oxadiazoles and 1 3 4 thiadiazoles
Tetrahedron Letters, 2008Co-Authors: Vivek Polshettiwar, Rajender S VarmaAbstract:Abstract A novel one-pot solvent-free synthesis of 1,3,4-oxadiazoles and 1,3,4-thiadiazoles by condensation of acid hydrazide and triethyl orthoalkanates under microwave irradiations is reported. This green protocol was catalyzed efficiently by solid supported Nafion®NR50 and Phosphorus Pentasulfide in alumina (P4S10/Al2O3) with excellent yields.

alumina encapsulated Phosphorus Pentasulfide p4s10 al2o3 mediated efficient thionation of long chain amides
Tetrahedron Letters, 2006Co-Authors: Vivek Polshettiwar, M. P. KaushikAbstract:Abstract Alumina encapsulated Phosphorus Pentasulfide (P 4 S 10 /Al 2 O 3 ) was found to be an efficient solid supported reagent for the thionation of long chain amides. This method is advantageous in terms of use of inexpensive reagent, simple reaction processing, and clean product in good to excellent yield.
