    Sidha acuta Burm. f belonging to family Malvaceae is a terrestrial, erect shrub which is up to 155 cm tall. The plant is native to Mexico, Central America and Himalayan region of India but has spread throughout the tropics and subtropics. Sida acuta Burm. f is widely distributed in pantropical areas and is widely used as traditional medicine in many cases. Among illnesses the plant is may be used alone or in combinations with other plants to cure fever, skin diseases, snake bites, Hemorrhoids, impotency and for boils and eye cataracts. Although the plant has been screened and suggested for various therapeutic activities its Photocomposition remained unrevealed because of very restricted amount of research work carried out. Thus it was thought worthwhile to explore this endangered plant on the basis of various standardization parameters. The present research work deals with the collection, identification, extraction, pharmacognosical and phytochemical investigation of Leaves of Sidha acuta Burm. f.

    Abstract:

    Abstract A microwave-assisted hydrothermal preparation of heterostructured graphitic carbon nitride/bismuth tungsten oxide/reduced graphene oxide nanocomposites (denoted as GBR-T, T = microwave irradiation time) is performed. The prepared GBR-T photocatalysts are identified by employing X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) and nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms. The photocatalytic performance of these GBR-T is evaluated by the photocatalytic degradation of ibuprofen (IBP) under the visible light (λ > 420 nm) and solar light irradiation. Among all prepared photocatalysts, ca. 93% of IBP photodegradation can be achieved with a degradation rate constant (k) of 0.011 min−1 under visible-light irradiation upon the optimal microwave-assisted reaction time of 60 min. The improvement is primarily attributable to the higher crystallization degree, specific surface area and increased charge transfer efficiency as verified by XRD, nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms and TRPL, respectively. The photocatalytic performance of this catalyst is further enhanced in the photodecomposition of IBP (ca. 98.6%) under sun light irradiation. The electron spin resonance (ESR) and liquid chromatography-mass/mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) studies show that the superoxide radicals and hydroxyl radicals are the dominant active species in the Photocomposition of IBP and degradation intermediates are formed through three probable photodegradation pathways. This investigation provides a simple way to prepare triple 2D heterojuction photocatalysts which could be effectively used in the advanced oxidation process for removal of emerging contaminants in wastewater by using renewable energy.

    Abstract:

    Abstract Exfoliated Tungsten disulfide (e-WS2) nanosheets were obtained from bulk Tungsten disulfide (WS2) in a liquid-phase ultrasonic exfoliation method using a DMF solvent. Core-shell mannered carbon coating was developed by hydrothermal process on exfoliated Tungsten disulfide (e-WS2) to enhance the efficient charge separation, specific surface area with mesoporosity and stability for chemical processes and mechanical strains. The carbon coated e-WS2 nanosheets (C@e-WS2) was performed by series of characterization techniques and explored to the photocatalytic degradation of malachite green (MG) dye by comparing with bulk WS2 and e-WS2. Among all the photocatalysts highest performance was observed for the C@e-WS2. C@e-WS2 catalyst displays more than 11 fold enhancements in the Photocomposition rate of MG over bulk WS2 and nearly 8 fold improvements over e-WS2 for 90 min irradiation. In addition, for complete degradation of MG dye over the bulk WS2, e-WS2, and C@e-WS2 catalysts were observed at 150, 130, and 90 min under simulated solar light irradiation. The results obtained using core-shell mannered C@e-WS2 are stepping stone for developing cost-effective and noble metal-free catalysts for photodegradation.
