    This research aimed to determine the effect of the role water immersion of Piper Betle leaf. Protect Paraserianthes falcataria of seed quality and know the best dosage Piper Betle leaf soaking in Paraserianthes falcataria maintain quality seed. The research method used in completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment consisted of: S0=Paraserianthes falcataria soaking seeds without Piper Betle leaves in 1 liter of water; S1=Paraserianthes falcataria soaking seeds with 100 g of Piper Betle leaves in 1 liter of water; S2=Paraserianthes falcataria soaking seeds with 200 g of Piper Betle leaves in 1 liter of water; S3=Paraserianthes falcataria soaking seeds with 300 g of Piper Betle leaves in 1 liter of water. Research has shown that the Paraserianthes falcataria seeds soaking with water immersion Piper Betle leaf able to maintain seed quality. Soaking seeds Paraserianthes falcataria with 300 g Piper Betle leaves in 1 liter of water is the best treatment against the percentage of seed germination (81%), the rate of seed germination (3.42 days), increasing the height of drill (4.07 cm) and the time of seed germination (81% in 9 days).

    Abstract:

    Paraserianthes falcataria (L.) Nielsen is a fast-growing plant species that has been widely recognized by society in the development of forest plantations. Paraserianthes falcataria (L.) Nielsen has many uses ranging from leaves, stems to the roots. People generally just let the Paraserianthes falcataria (L.) Nielsen seeds grow naturally without making the treatment of the seeds. Seed treatment is by using plants that contain a disinfectant or antiseptic, and easily found around the neighborhood, including the Piper Betle Linn. plant. This research aimed to determine the effect of soaking Piper Betle Linn. leaves on the quality of the seed and determine the length of immersion Piper Betle Linn. leaf which is optimal to protect seed quality. The research was compiled in a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment consisted of soaking Paraserianthes falcataria (L.) Nielsen seeds with water immersion of Piper Betle Linn. leaves for 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 40 minutes and 50 minutes. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance using SAS 9.1.3 Portable. And than, continued with DNMRT double distance test at 5% level. The research results showed that the duration of Piper Betle Linn. leaf soaking has an effect on seed germination and improve the quality of seeds during storage. The optimal time for Piper Betle Linn. leaf soaking is 30 minutes with germination percentage of 86.00%, germination speed of 2.73 days and seed germination time of 8 days.

This research aimed to determine the effect of soaking Piper Betle Linn. leaves on the quality of the seed and determine the length of immersion Piper Betle Linn. leaf which is optimal to protect seed quality. The research was compiled in a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment consisted of soaking Paraserianthes falcataria (L.) Nielsen seeds with water immersion of Piper Betle Linn. leaves for 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 40 minutes and 50 minutes. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance using SAS 9.1.3 Portable. And than, continued with DNMRT double distance test at 5% level. The research results showed that the duration of Piper Betle Linn. leaf soaking has an effect on seed germination and improve the quality of seeds during storage. The optimal time for Piper Betle Linn. leaf soaking is 30 minutes with germination percentage of 86.00%, germination speed of 2.73 days and seed germination time of 8 days.

    Abstract:

    Background: Measures of irrigation canals is one important step endodonti care because if ignored can lead to treatment failure. The most important irrigation solution is to have a maximum power of antimicrobials with minimal toxicity. H 2 O 2 3% irrigation one ingredient that is often used. Disadvantages H 2 O 2 3% as a root canal irrigation is antibacterial power limitations of the material and is very toxic to cells. To reduce the effects of toxicity of root canal irrigation, hence in this study using alternative materials Piper betel leaf extract as an ingredient irrigation canals are safe to use. It is known that the content contained in the essential oil of Piper betel leaf has antibacterial effects. Methods: This study is an experimental laboratory with research design post only control design. This study uses total sample wells with 8 samples. Observations are then tested using statistical analysis test for normality with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov, and then conducted tests of homogeneity with Levene Test. Analytical results obtained are not normal and are not homogeneous then followed by non-parametric statistical tests, using different test followed by Kruskall wallis and Mann-Whitney test statistic. Results: The results showed that the extract of red Piper Betle leaf and green Piper Betle leaf extract has antibacterial effect against S. viridans. Conclusions and Recommendations: The result largest to smallest inhibition zone is green Piper Betle leaf extract 100%, green Piper Betle leaf extract 50%, H 2 O 2 3% , red Piper Betle leaf extract 100%, red Piper Betle leaf extract 50% and aquades steril. Need more research on the use of green betel leaf extract and red betel leaf extract as an alternative to root canal irrigation material.

    Background: Root canal irrigation is one, of important in endodonti treatment because if ignored can lead to failure. 3% Hydrogen peroxide ( H 2 O 2 ) is one of irrigation solution is often used. To reduce the effects of toxicity of root canal irrigation, it can be used for alternative materials canal irrigation are safe to use. One is Piper Betle plant. Based on previous research phytochemical test, the Piper Betle leaf has anti-bacterial effect. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the antibacterial effect, difference antibacterial effect and effectiveness of red Piper Betle leaf extract and green Piper Betle leaf compared with 3% H 2 O 2 solution to Streptococcus viridans. Methods: This study is an experimental laboratory with research design post only control design. This study uses pitting. Each petridish divided into 6 holes, spilled A 3% H 2 O 2 , B sterile distilled water, C 50% red Piper Betle leaf extract, D 50% green Piper Betle leaf extract, E 100% leaf extract a red Piper Betle and F 100% green Piper Betle leaf extract. All incubated for 24 hours at 37 ° C and the inhibition zone diameter measured. Results: The results showed significant difference between the extracts of green and red Piper Betle. Statistical test with Mann Whitney test showed a significant difference between each group except 3% H 2 O 2 and 50% green Piper Betle extract. Conclusions and Recommendations: Conclusions from this research are green Piper Betle leaf extract and red Piper Betle leaf extract can inhibit the growth of bacteria S. viridans. There were significant differences antibacterial effect between green Piper Betle leaf extract and red Piper Betle leaf extract with 3% H 2 O 2 to S. Viridans. 100% Green Piper Betle leaf extract effective as an antibacterial against S. viridans. Need more research on the use of green Piper Betle leaf extract and red Piper Betle leaf extract as an alternative material of root canal irrigation.
