    Abstract:

    The rigid Plastic Analysis of plane frame structures is reviewed. The rigid Plastic Analysis presented has been formulated in a way that it circumvents the need of subdividing the beams, whereby, nevertheless, completely arbitrary loads can be accomodated. It will be demonstrated, that rigid Plastic Analysis may become an effective alternative to elastic Analysis, which is largely due to the author succeeding in developing a new, fast and reliable optimisation algorithm, particularly suited to rigid Plastic structural mechanics. Various yield surfaces are considered, with special attention given to the yield surface in DIN18800 for symmetrical rolled I and H profiles. Elastic and rigid Plastic Analysis results are compared and the cost reducing effect of rigid Plastic redistribution of internal forces is examined in the examples.

  • Pushover-QR Method for Static Elasto-Plastic Analysis of Aseismic Structures

    Abstract:

    Combining the QR-method based on B-spline functions and the pushover Analysis method,the authors put forward the pushover-QR method for static elasto-Plastic Analysis of high-rising buildings in this paper.The method still hires the ideology of traditional pushover method in static elasto-Plastic Analysis of (aseismic) structures.By replacing the theory of finite element with the QR-method in the process of pushover Analysis and making full use of the advantages of both QR-method and finite element,pushover-QR method greatly simplifies the calculation of astatic elasto-Plastic Analysis of(aseismic) structures.In addition,the paper has considered the contributions of higher modes of structures when the lateral load patterns,target displacement and other aspects are determined.The procedure of the pushover-QR method is used to calculate some examples,which shows that the pushover-QR method is an economic,efficient and feasible Analysis method.

    Abstract:

    Abstract A method to solve linear complementarity problems in the framework of the step-by-step static or dynamic elastic Plastic Analysis of discrete structures is here presented. It is based on the recursive solution of a sequence of linear complementarity problems in which the constraint matrix is diagonal and deduced from the matrix of the original linear complementarity problem. A convergence theorem is proved. The physical meaning of the procedure is studied and it is shown to be a Plastic relaxation. A Fortran routine based on the proposed method is provided. Several numerical applications are presented.
