Cross-Platform Framing and Cross-Cultural Adaptation: Examining Elephant Conservation in Thailand

LinAbstract:This case study investigates cross-Platform Framing process and Framing alignment strategies of the world famous elephant conservation NGO. It examines how the intercultural adaptation facilitates the frame transformation against entrenched domesticated elephant traditions in Thailand. Besides web observation, this study conducted two field trips to interview the NGO staff and conservation experts, and observed human–elephant interaction. Enhancing the understanding of ecotourism, this study expands the Framing theory by incorporating cross-Platform and cross-cultural adaptation factors and provides insights of an effective Asian ecotourism model which transcends cultural differences and overcomes resistance by disseminating culturally sensitive and integrated Framing strategies through various communication channels.

FEM Analysis of a Platform Framing Timber Structure
2016Co-Authors: Ion Florenta, Marian Pruteanu, Ciprian-ionut ZubAbstract:Due to climate changes of the last years, in Europe, there is a tendency of using ecological materials in building constructions. Therefore, timber structures represent a very good solution in reducing the negative environment impacts. The Platform Framing structural system offers the possibility of constructing new multi-storey buildings. In order to increase the quality of execution and to reduce the time of constructing the building, it can be used prefabricated wood panels as structural walls. This paper presents a numerical analysis of a multi-storey Platform Framing timber structure by using finite element method. The structure consisting of prefabricated panels is located in IaAŸi City and it has 3 levels: Ground floor Level + 2 Levels. The numerical analysis of the structure was done by using the commercial structural program Axis VM 12.

Simplified approach for analyse of shear walls for multistorey timber buildings

Three-storey timber building with the Platform Framing method of major structural member’s joining of was considered as an object of investigations. The length and width of considered building were equal to 28 and 13 m, correspondingly. Simplified approach of load-bearing shear wall modelling, which is based on the replacement of the shear wall structure by the lattice structure with the equivalent stiffness, is presented. FEM models were developed by the softwares ANSYS 15.0 and Autodesk Robot Structural for verification of developed simplified approach. It was stated, that the difference between the horizontal displacements obtained for single member of shear wall structure by the developed simplified approach and developed FEM models does not exceeds 5%

The digital Platforms in the maritime industry : An exploratory case study of two multisided digital Platforms
University of South-Eastern Norway, 2019Co-Authors: Tebni DhiaAbstract:The purpose of this study is to provide and insight and deep understanding regarding the merging phenomena of digital Platforms in the maritime industry for both manager from the industry and academic researchers. The aim is to comprehend the characteristics of the Platforms, their key applications and the challenges that they are facing or presents to the maritime industry. For this reason, a qualitative exploratory study of two digital Platforms were conducted. The data have been gathered through semi-structured interviews and analyse of publicly released documents. Then, it was analysed and processed using Yin guidance for case studies. Some of the findings were supporting the theory while others were not. The key results highlighted the importance of the Platform Framing and its impact on enabling more cost-efficient transactions and attracts more users. The study highpoint also the area of applications where those Platforms are contributing and last but not least, the key challenges that they face and present for decision makers regarding the security of their data and most of it the security of the information resulting from the process of those data
