Co-Authors: Hernández Vilema, Juan Francisco, Verdugo Ibarra, Henrry Daniel
    Abstract:

This work involves the design and construction of a Platform Lift of people with disabled for entry into the urban buses, as an initial stage, it investigated access conditions (height of sidewalks) in urban bus stops and points taken into account in the development work. The Lift was designed based on a four-bar mechanism which connects two Platforms which normally function as tier access to the interior of the bus, in order to maintain the standard stands system. The design proposed the deployment of a Platform that goes down to the sidewalk to pick up the person and allow raising the floor level on the bus. The system works with pneumatic energy and pneumatic accessories, for easy mounting in urban buses, it performs all technical and safety specifications required in the Ecuadorian standard NTE INEN 2205 Urban Buses. For ease of operation has included the necessary signage located in actuating two valves, one controls the raising and lowering of the elevator while the other controls the display of the Platform. To verify the proper design and operation of each component of the elevator, it used computational tools that verified the mechanical and system operating conditions. The cost of the elevator is economical and easy to use, unlike other existing systems can be incorporated into urban buses in the future, as indicated by the national rules and regulations

  • impact of the a18 1 asme standard on Platform Lifts and stairway chairLifts on accessibility and usability
    Assistive Technology, 2010
    Co-Authors: David C Balmer
    Abstract:

ABSTRACT This article summarizes the effect of the ASME A18.1 Standard concerning accessibility and usability of Platform Lifts and their remaining technological challenges. While elevators are currently the most effective means of vertical transportation related to speed, capacity, rise and usability, their major drawbacks for accessibility are cost and space. Platform Lifts and stairway chairLifts remain the "devices of choice" for small elevation changes in existing buildings. ADAAG limits them to very specific circumstances in new construction. The ASME A18.1 Standard addresses the safety requirements of inclined stairway chairLifts (which are not ADA compliant) and inclined and vertical Platform Lifts (which are ADA Compliant). ChairLifts do not provide access for wheeled mobility devices. Restricting access by means of keys is eliminated, inclined Platform Lift designs that do not interfere with stairway traffic, promoting new ideas for the design of vertical Lifts, increasing the allowable vertical travel of a Lift and strengthening Lift ramps to improve their safety. Despite design advances inherent in the A18.1, significant Platform Lift usability issues continue to exist. Increased sizes and weights of powered mobility devices indicate that the permitted Lift Platform area be modified and that permitted weight capacities be codified as minimums instead of maximums.

  • design and simulation based on pro e for a hydraulic Lift Platform in scissors type
    Procedia Engineering, 2011
    Co-Authors: Tian Hongyu, Zhang Ziyi
    Abstract:

Abstract Scissors Lift Platform with a wide range, the main Platform, Lift mechanism and the bottom are composed of three parts. Lifting from low to high Lifting, the scissors posts, and the hydraulic cylinder layout multiple, mobile way has traction, self-propelled, booster, etc. Scissors Lift mechanism of scissors post number and cylinder layout by Lifting height. This paper is about a design based 3D software Pro/E with 8m high scissors Lift Platform, which gives a entire Platform dimension with 1800 × 900mm2. A rated load of features so that the whole Platform can be set up by two pairs of scissors refers to like products. The Platform is designed to be folded away doors, to save more space for convenient storage. Lift Platform uses a hydraulic driver, which runs smoothly, stably, and accuracy factors relative to high.
