the nox budget trading program a collaborative innovative approach to solving a regional air Pollution Problem
The Electricity Journal, 2007Co-Authors: Sam Napolitano, Gabrielle Stevens, Jeremy Schreifels, Kevin M CulliganAbstract:The NOx Budget Trading Program showed that regional cap-and-trade programs are adaptable to more than one pollutant, time period, and geographic scale, and can achieve compliance results similar to the Acid Rain Program. Here are 11 specific lessons that have emerged from the experience.

visual analysis of the air Pollution Problem in hong kong
IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2007Co-Authors: Wingyi Chan, Kailun Chung, Kaihon Lau, Ping GuoAbstract:We present a comprehensive system for weather data visualization. Weather data are multivariate and contain vector fields formed by wind speed and direction. Several well-established visualization techniques such as parallel coordinates and polar systems are integrated into our system. We also develop various novel methods, including circular pixel bar charts embedded into polar systems, enhanced parallel coordinates with S-shape axis, and weighted complete graphs. Our system was used to analyze the air Pollution Problem in Hong Kong and some interesting patterns have been found.

Statistical distributions for air Pollution applied to the study of the particulate Problem in Santiago
Atmospheric Environment, 1999Co-Authors: Benoit Morel, Sonia Yeh, Luis CifuentesAbstract:An expression relating the distribution of concentrations of air pollutants to the emission levels is derived and applied to the study of the air Pollution Problem of Santiago de Chile. Features specific to the area, like the geography and meteorology are included in a stochastic framework. The resulting distribution is simple. It has two parameters which can be easily estimated from the data. It fits well the data from Santiago and is a powerful tool to analyze Pollution data and design a mitigation strategy. The methodology developed here can be applied to any city.
