    Porcine Atrophic Rhinitis(PAR) is an serious disease of respiratory organ in pigs,it is one of important reasons what could impact the production of pork.Through analyzing the nosogenesis of Porcine Atrophic Rhinitis, study progress of PAR on epidemiology, clinical symptom, clinical symptom, and the method of prevention and cure to AR were summarized in this paper.

    Toxins of Pusteurellu multocidu type D, a causal bacterium of Porcine Atrophic Rhinitis, chiefly affect developing cartilage and bone. When sprayed onto nasal mucosae or injected subcutaneously, they cause lesions of nasal turbinates within 48 h r. * ~ ~ Systemic effects of pasteurella toxins have not been clearly shown but are suggested by two experimental studies in pigs: (1) toxin given by aerosol caused hepatocyte damage in six of ten pigs-lesions varied from focal vacuolar degen-eration to diffuse necrosis and hemorrhage;2 (2) toxin given intraperitoneally caused liver lesions which were defined only as “degenerative change.”8 Since clinical studies on Atrophic Rhinitis hint that the liver may be affected in natural disease, we wished to know if the pig developed liver necrosis when given toxin experimentally.     Abstract:

    Lesions of Porcine Atrophic Rhinitis are typically evaluated by a veterinarian's visual inspection of a cross-sectioned pig snout. We describe the development of a system to automatically evaluate these lesions from a digital image of the pig snout. Preliminary results indicate that an automatic system which measures the relative areas of structures in the pig's nasal cavity yields results which correlate only weakly with subjective expert opinion. Other methods of automated measurements are currently being developed (e.g., perimeter ratios) which may correlate more closely with expert opinion

    Abstract:

    Pasteurella multocida is an important veterinary and opportunistic human pathogen. The species is diverse and complex with respect to antigenic variation, host predeliction and pathogenesis. Certain serological types are the aetiologic agents of severe pasteurellosis, such as fowl cholera in domestic and wild birds, bovine haemorrhagic septicaemia and Porcine Atrophic Rhinitis. The recent application of molecular methods such as the polymerase chain reaction, restriction endonuclease analysis, ribotyping, pulsed-held gel electrophoresis, gene cloning, characterisation and recombinant protein expression, mutagenesis, plasmid and bacteriophage analysis and genomic mapping, have greatly increased our understanding of P. multocida and has provided researchers with a number of molecular tools to study pathogenesis and epidemiology at a molecular level.
