    Abstract:

    Due to the globalisation of counterfeiting activities, the penetration of fake products in open market is growing. So far, the technologies to combat counterfeiting are mostly applied to high-value products e.g. premium wine and branded handbags; however, in the medium-and low-value products' perspective, there is no secure way for consumers to identify whether the purchased items are genuine or not. To address the counterfeiting problems effectively, a platform for identifying authenticated products and promoting anti-counterfeit activities is very important. The aim of this paper is to design and develop an anti-counterfeit platform which includes two functions: providing customers a secure network to ascertain the genuineness of their purchased product and increasing public awareness of the current counterfeit problems and updated anti-counterfeit solutions. By combining these two functions, it enables public to fight against fake and beware of counterfeit. Results of adopting Portal Technology in anti-counterfeiting show high accuracy in product checking and improved creditability. This reveals that the applicability and advantage of the proposed methodology are satisfactory.

    Abstract:

    This paper presents experiences and lessons learned detailing software testing for a Technology refresh project that took place over a period of one year. The paper describes the continuous testing performed while the team ported a web Portal from one environment to another, which will probably affect more websites and web Portals as time goes on. The original portlet-based application was constructed four years ago and has been experiencing problems during peak demand times. The overall goal of this Technology refresh project is to achieve stability of the Portal-based on a more robust architecture. This paper summarizes test plans and results for iterative functional, automated regression, and continuous performance testing. The team designed the system for better performance, monitored test results from the early stage of the lifecycle, and unveiled potential issues using continuous integration and testing.

    Portal Technology can significantly improve the entire corporate information infrastructure. The approach proposed is based on rigorous and consistent (meta)data model and provides for efficient and accurate front-end integration of heterogeneous corporate applications including enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, multimedia data warehouses and proprietary content databases. The methodology proposed embraces entire software lifecycle; it is illustrated by an enterprise-level Intranet Portal implementation.

    Abstract Web-Portal based approach can significantly improve the entire corporate information infrastructure.
