Photocurable cyanate ester containing hybrid coatings by an anhydrous sol-gel technique

Chemical structure of the products was confirmed using spectroscopic methods such as infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The properties of the hybrid coatings such as thermal and mechanical properties were investigated in detail by scanning electron microscope, thermogravimetric analysis, and mechanical measurement. Cure kinetics of the coating formulations was investigated by differential scanning photo-calorimetry (Photo-DSC). Cross cut adhesion, pendulum hardness, gloss, pencil hardness, MEK rub test were also performed to measure the coating performance of the hybrid coatings. The results indicate that the addition of the appropriate amount of CPM and sol-gel can effectively improve the thermal and mechanical properties. ?? 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Consequently, the demand for alternative sweeteners is growing. Coconut blossom sugar benefits from this trend and is conquering European grocery stores and kitchens. While sugar extraction from coconut sap has a long tradition in South and Southeast Asian, not much is known in Europe about its manufacturing Process. The purpose of this study was to characterize this product. One-hundred-and-seven coconut blossom sugar samples, purchased in local grocery stores, online or provided by producing companies and traders, were analyzed with regard to sensory properties, 13C/12C isotopic ratio, sugar content, gluten level, microscopic characteristics, and lipid profile using well-established methods. The assessment showed that coconut blossom sugar may contain gluten, starch, an addition of sugars from C4 plants, and coconut or palm oil. These additives can have technological reasons such as anti-foaming agents and release agents, or simply serve to increase the yield. Even if it is a natural product with natural variations, the smell and taste of caramel are particularly characteristic.

Continuous treatment of hydrogen sulfide on a large scale using wet-electrostatic precipitator
Chemical Engineering Journal, 2014Co-Authors: Hyun-woo Park, Chung Hyun Lee, Sooseok Choi, Dong-wha ParkAbstract:A large amount of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) was continuously removed by a wet-electrostatic precipitator (Wet-ESP) system. The Wet-ESP system consists of wet Process for the conversion of H2S and electrostatic precipitation Process for the collection of dust. H2S was neutralized by the mist of NaOH or KOH alkaline solution supplied by an ultrasonic humidifier in the wet Process. Chemical reactions between H2S and alkaline solution produced salts such as Na2S and K2S at room temperature. Dusts of salts and unreacted mist were collected in the electrostatic precipitator where a corona discharge device was installed. The total flow rate of H2S and air mixture was controlled in the range of 0.5-2.0Nm3/min at the fixed H2S flow rate of 1.2×10-3Nm3/min. The removal efficiency of H2S was over than 99% when the liquid-gas ratio in the case of KOH and the gas residence time were more than 4.94 and 0.504s, respectively. In order to reduce dust emission to the same level with that in the air, the corona discharge power of 124W was required for a short dust residence time of 0.163s, while 44W was required for a relatively long dust residence time of 0.65s. © 2014 Elsevier B.V.
