    This article considers the strategy of using a new generation of web technology to support Product Data Management during the traditional development process. An approach to the Data exchange and sharing by defining the infrastructure of XML-based web service for collaborative Product development is proposed. The outline of the theoretical background of Products information modelling and relationships with the entities of the STEP PDM Scheme is presented. Benefits of STEP/XML integration as a base concept of the proposed solution is discussed. The overview of the web services technology is given. The architecture of the web service for collaborative Product Data Management built by using Java2 TM Enterprise Edition (J2EE) platform is described.

    Abstract:

    On the basis of analyzing the developing process ,tendency and integrated frame of PDM (Product Data Management),the construction and function of digital manufacture are discussed. Firstly, the structure and feature of Product Data Management are presented, especially the developing course of PDM is defined again. Secondly, digital manufacturing necessity and advantage in modern enterprise are analyzed. Some facets of composing structure and function of model block on digital manufacture and the relations between digital manufacture and MS(Modeling and Simulation)are pointed out. Finally, According to Chinese conditions, this paper proposed some strategies that should be beneficial to our manufacturing sector in order to develop digital manufacture in China .
