  • Simulation of heat and mass transfer processes in the experimental section of the air-condensing unit of Scientific Production Company “Turbocon”
    Thermal Engineering, 2016
    Co-Authors: V. I. Artemov, K. B. Minko, G. G. Yan’kov, A. V. Kiryukhin
    Abstract:

A mathematical model was developed to be used for numerical analysis of heat and mass transfer processes in the experimental section of the air condenser (ESAC) created in the Scientific Production Company (SPC) “Turbocon” and mounted on the territory of the All-Russia Thermal Engineering Institute. The simulations were performed using the author’s CFD code ANES. The verification of the models was carried out involving the experimental data obtained in the tests of ESAC. The operational capability of the proposed models to calculate the processes in steam–air mixture and cooling air and algorithms to take into account the maldistribution in the various rows of tube bundle was shown. Data on the influence of temperature and flow rate of the cooling air on the pressure in the upper header of ESAC, effective heat transfer coefficient, steam flow distribution by tube rows, and the dimensions of the ineffectively operating zones of tube bundle for two schemes of steam–air mixture flow (one-pass and two-pass ones) were presented. It was shown that the pressure behind the turbine (in the upper header) increases significantly at increase of the steam flow rate and reduction of the flow rate of cooling air and its temperature rise, and the maximum value of heat transfer coefficient is fully determined by the flow rate of cooling air. Furthermore, the steam flow rate corresponding to the maximum value of heat transfer coefficient substantially depends on the ambient temperature. The analysis of the effectiveness of the considered schemes of internal coolant flow was carried out, which showed that the two-pass scheme is more effective because it provides lower pressure in the upper header, despite the fact that its hydraulic resistance at fixed flow rate of steam–air mixture is considerably higher than at using the one-pass schema. This result is a consequence of the fact that, in the two-pass scheme, the condensation process involves the larger internal surface of tubes, results in lower values of Δ t (the temperature difference between internal and external coolant) for a given heat load.

  • Usklađivanje implementiranog sustava kvalitete u proizvodnoj tvrtci prema zahtjevima norme HRN EN ISO 9001:2009 sa zahtjevima norme HRN EN ISO 9001:2015
    2017
    Co-Authors: Irena Šlibar
    Abstract:

For the Production of this final work, a system of quality assurance of the Production Company has been implemented, which has implemented a system according to HRN EN ISO 9001: 2009. The paper describes the requirements of HRN EN ISO 9001: 2009 and the requirements of HRN EN ISO 9001: 2015. Among these two norms, the correlation between the requirements and the main differences in the terms of norms was made. As a result of the work, the implemented quality system HRN EN ISO 9001: 2009 has been harmonized with the Production Company HRN EN ISO 9001: 2015. In order to implement the requirements of ISO 9001: 2015 in the business practice of the Company, the required documentation was produced and internal control was carried out and certificates were secured to provide evidence of a successfully implemented system.

  • PolyGram Filmed Entertainment and Working Title Films Part II : The Rise and Fall of a Film Studio
    'Informa UK Limited', 2020
    Co-Authors: Townsend, Nathaniel Philip
    Abstract:

In a recent article in this journal, I examined the early development and launch of a film studio, PolyGram Filmed Entertainment (PFE), and the integration of an independent Production Company, Working Title Films, into this new venture between 1988 and 1993. This article resumes that narrative by considering the evolving parent Company-subsidiary dynamic at play between PFE and Working Title between 1993 and 1998. In doing so, four overlapping objectives are pursued. Firstly, I examine the structures and processes which linked PFE to Working Title by conceptualising the relationship between the two in terms of creative and commercial gatekeeping with gates at the points of development, green-lighting and distribution. Secondly, I consider the release of Working Title’s first worldwide hit, Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), and assess its impact upon both the Production Company and the studio. Thereafter, PFE’s subsequent development - the expansion of its distribution and marketing network, its acquisition of various film libraries, the proliferation of its Production deals – is charted, as well as its premature demise and the fate of its assets, including Working Title. Finally, I position this history within the wider context of the relationship between the film industries and cultures of Britain and Hollywood by considering PFE’s unique achievements and legacy
