    Abstract:

    Ergonomics is present in everyday design practice. Designers use it consciously or intuitively. They also do not take into account the realization of its principles. The paper presents a variety of examples of the application of ergonomic principles in the design. It shows the various aspects of ergonomic design selected examples of Projects and the implementation of the author. It discusses ergonomics in kitchen technology, medical technology hospital facilities, hotels Projects, industrial plants, water parks, playgrounds, etc. The purpose of this paper is to show the diversity of ergonomic issues occurring in daily practice. Demonstration of the need to start the design of the initial findings of ergonomic parameters, modules and optimization of technological systems. Ergonomics as a vital and necessary part of the initial phase of design - programming, which not only simplifies the design but also ensures optimum and safe use. Ergonomic design gives a measurable and tangible benefits for developers, investors and users. The paper is the author's statement, presents his point of view, ergonomic in design.

    Defence innovation systems are structured around two main groups of players that interact in the development of complex programmes: the state (the client and the government agency) and the systems integrators. Technological and institutional changes since the 1990s have affected the division of labour and knowledge in the industry. In this paper we show the origins of these changes based on information derived from 45 qualitative interviews conducted between 2000 and 2008, which demonstrate the new capabilities that have been created within the national innovation system (NIS). We explain how the role and the capabilities of the French Government Agency for Defence (Direction Generale de l'Armement - DGA) have developed from " Project Architect " to " Project manager ". These new capabilities create new interactions in the French Defence innovation system and new roles for the DGA.

  • Recap of Agile DW/BI Coding Practices

    Abstract:

    Agile methods for enterprise data warehousing (EDW) are rooted in the iterative programming techniques that teams use to build departmental-specific or other, single-sponsor business analytics systems. The earliest agile warehousing Projects utilized a generic form of Scrum but quickly found that they needed to create additional work roles, such as Project Architect, data modeler, systems analyst, and system tester. They also found that they needed to adapt generic Scrum with data warehousing/business intelligence (DW/BI) versions of 80/20 specifications, developer stories, and Project estimates. Unlike generic Scrum practitioners, agile DW/BI teams commonly pipeline work as it moves between the specialties of a team, causing the engineering life cycle for a given work item to stretch across multiple iterations. Adding an “Iteration –1” to the Project and incorporating some techniques from Kanban makes the preparatory work for DW/BI Projects manageable for a team’s analysts, designers, and testers. With these adaptations, agile methods work well for DW/BI, as revealed by surveys of the companies that practice agile EDW today.

    An initial Project backlog of user stories is essential to getting an agile warehousing Project started. Stories on the initial backlog should come from the product owner and sometimes a couple of other key user groups. Since the initial backlog allows Project estimation, and estimation in turn supports Project funding, these stories often have to be gathered before Iteration 0 of the sprint and before the full team is assigned. A Project Architect is a good choice for leading this preProject effort. He should declare an Iteration −1 to create the time to gather the initial Project backlog. In addition to that backlog, the Architect will also want to derive from the initial interviews a business target model of the fact and dimensional entities needed to solve the product owner’s analytical problem. This model will support later the work of the data Architect and systems analysts during the Project’s Iteration 0.
