  • synthesis of some new 1 2 4 triazoles starting from isonicotinic acid hydrazide and evaluation of their antimicrobial activities
European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2009
Co-Authors: Hacer Bayrak, Ahmet Demirbas, Neslihan Demirbas, Senguel Alpay Karaoglu
    Abstract:

5-Pyridin-4-yl-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiol (2) was obtained from the reaction of isonicotinic acid hydrazide with carbon disulfide in basic media and converted into 4-amino-5-pyridin-4-yl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol (5) by the treatment with hydrazine hydrate. The synthesis of 3 and 6 was performed from the reaction of 2 and 5 with ethyl bromide. The treatment of 5 with 4-fluorobenzaldehyde or indol-3-carbaldehyde resulted in the formation of 4-[(arylmethylene)amino]-5-pyridin-4-yl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiols (7a and 7b). The reactions of 2, 5 and 7a with some primary and secondary amines in the presence of formaldehyde afforded the corresponding Mannich bases, 4a, 4b, 9a-9c and 8. All newly synthesized compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activity. The antimicrobial activity study revealed that all the compounds screened showed good or moderate activity except compounds 2, 7a, 7b, 8 and 9b.

  • a new nanohybrid material constructed from keggin type polyoxometalate and cd ii semicarbazone schiff base complex with excellent adsorption properties for the removal of cationic dye pollutants
    Journal of Molecular Structure, 2017
Co-Authors: Saeed Farhadi, Michal Dušek, Mostafa M Amini, Monika Kucerakova, Farzaneh Mahmoudi
    Abstract:

Abstract A novel nanohybrid material containing a Cd(II) semicarbazone Schiff base complex and phosphomolybdic acid, [Cd(H2L+)6][H2L]+4[PMo12O40]4·18CH3OH·4H2O (1), [HL = pyridine-2-carbaldehyde semicarbazone] was prepared by a simple sonochemical route and characterized by 1HNMR, 13CNMR, FT-IR, UV–vis, PXRD, FESEM, TG-DTA and BET-BJH surface area analysis. Also the single crystal 1, was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. It crystallizes in the triclinic system with space group P-1 and is assembled into 3D supramolecular structure via hydrogen intermolecular interactions. The nanohybrid 1 was tested for the adsorption and removal of organic dyes such as methylene blue (MB), Rhodamine B (RhB) and methyl orange (MO) from aqueous solutions. The effects of parameters such as the dosage of adsorbent, the initial concentration and pH of dye solution were investigated on the removal efficiency of methylene blue. The nanohybrid 1 exhibited excellent adsorption ability towards cationic dyes. Moreover, it could be easily separated from the reaction solution and recycled up to three times without significant loss of adsorption activity.

  • a new nano scale manganese ii coordination polymer constructed from semicarbazone schiff base and dicyanamide ligands synthesis crystal structure and dft calculations
    Journal of Molecular Structure, 2016
Co-Authors: Saeed Farhadi, Farzaneh Mahmoudi, Jim Simpson
    Abstract:

Abstract A new nano-structured Mn(II) coordination polymer [Mn(HL)(dca)(Cl)]n (1), [HL= Pyridine-2-carbaldehyde semicarbazone, dca= dicyanamide] has been synthesized by a sonochemical method and has been characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy. Single crystals of compound 1 was synthesized by slow evaporation method and was structurally characterised by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The single crystal structure shows one dimensional zig-zag chains with end-to-end dicyanamide-bridged ligand. A distorted octahedral geometry around the Mn2+centers was achieved by NNO atoms from HL, two nitrogen atoms of dicyanamide and one chlorine atom. Also for more details, the structure of 1, has been optimized by density functional theory (DFT calculations).

  • two coordination polymers based on semicarbazone schiff base and azide synthesis crystal structure electrochemistry magnetic properties and biological activity
    Journal of Coordination Chemistry, 2013
Co-Authors: Behrouz Shaabani, Michal Dušek, Farzaneh Mahmoudi, Ali Akbar Khandar, Michaela Pojarova, A Feher, M Kajňakova
    Abstract:

[Mn(L)(μ1,1–N3)2]2 n [Mn(H2O)2(μ1,1–N3)2] n (1) and [Cd(HL)(μ1,1–N3)2] n (2) have been synthesized from HL (HL: pyridine-2-carbaldehyde semicarbazone) and azide ligands, characterized by FT-IR, UV–vis spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. Single crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that 1 is a coordination polymer consisting of two infinite 1-D chains: chain A with [Mn(L)(μ1,1–N3)2]2 n and chain B with [Mn(H2O)2(μ1,1–N3)2] n . In both chains, Mn centers are connected via two double end-on (EO) azide bridges. 2 is a coordination polymer consisting of a 1-D infinite chain, where Cd centers are connected via two double EO azide bridges. The electrochemistry of HL, 1 and 2 were studied by cyclic voltammetry. Magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate bulk ferromagnetic coupling for 1 below 5 K. Antimicrobial activities of both compounds 1 and 2 were greater than HL, with the strongest effect for 2 consistent with its larger radius and electronegativity of Cd(II) ions.

  • synthesis crystal structure antimicrobial activity and electrochemistry study of chromium iii and copper ii complexes based on semicarbazone schiff base and azide ligands
    Inorganica Chimica Acta, 2013
Co-Authors: Behrouz Shaabani, Michal Dušek, Ali Akbar Khandar, Michaela Pojarova, Farzaneh Mahmoudi
    Abstract:

A tridentate NNO donor Schiff base ligand HL [HL: C5H4NCH=NNHCONH2] was obtained by condensation of pyridine 2-carbaldehyde with semicarbazide. The HL and azide ligands with Cr(III) and Cu(II) ions have been used to synthesize a dinuclear complex [Cr(L)(N3)(OCH3)]2(1) and a coordination polymer complex [Cu(L)(N3)]n(2). The ligand, 1 and 2 were clearly characterised by elemental analysis, FT-IR, UV–Vis spectral studies and the structures of the 1 and 2, have been studied by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The results of X-ray diffraction analysis revealed Cr(III) and Cu(II) center are coordinated in a distorted octahedral and a square pyramidal geometries for 1 and 2 respectively. The ligand and the complexes were tested for their efficiency towards antimicrobial activity and the MIC data revealed that the HL, 1 and 2 have not strong activity in comparison to the standard drugs. The electrochemistry of the HL and its complexes were studied by cyclic voltammetry.
