    China Railway Science, 2020
    Co-Authors: Ye Long
    Abstract:

We obtained the competency evaluation indicators of Rail Transport drivers according to the survey analysis, and the indicators included 4 first-level evaluation indicators and 16 second-level evaluation indicators. To regard these indicators as variables, and based on the principles of Bayesian networks, the competence Bayesian networks of Rail Transport drivers were built. We chose vocational psychology characteristics and vocational theory characteristics as the intermediate nodes, the extent of mastering the rules and regulations, level of vehicle theoretical knowledge, learning ability and complexity response ability as father node, competency of Rail Transport drivers as child node, and then we built the simplified sub-Bayesian network of Rail Transport drivers' competency.Through analyzing the example by this sub-Bayesian network, the results show that vocational psychology characteristics play a more important role in the competence of Rail Transport drivers. The evaluation results can accurately reflect the interactions among all the evaluation indicators for the competence of Rail Transport drivers. The method can provide a quantitative analysis basis for Rail Transport drivers' selection, training and retirement.

  • TST - Tasks of Independent Assessment Bodies in Risk Management in Rail Transport – the Polish Experience
Communications in Computer and Information Science, 2016
    Co-Authors: Adam Jabłoński
    Abstract:

In recent years, the issue of safety management in Rail Transport has been widely developed, which has consequences for the participants in this market, namely infrastructure managers, Railway undertakings, ECM, as well as manufacturers and distributors. This results from the need to verify the conformity of products or services with the safety criteria. A special role in this process is played by assessment bodies (AsBo). Due to the requirements of the European Commission Regulation, the place and role of these bodies in safety management in Rail Transport has been clearly specified. The tasks of AsBo are to verify the adequacy of the process of risk evaluation and assessment in the event of technical, operational and organizational changes in the Railway system. Previous experience in Poland related to the activity of AsBo indicates that the Railway market does not fully understand their essence, importance and key impact on safety in Rail Transport. The purpose of this paper is to identify the key tasks and challenges of assessment bodies related to improving Rail Transport safety in Poland.

  • train schedule optimization in public Rail Transport
    2003
    Co-Authors: U T Zimmermann, T Lindner
    Abstract:

Attractive train schedules are quite important for the success of public Rail Transport. We consider schedules which are repeated after some fixed time period. Periodicity is a well accepted, convenient attribute of all major Railroad systems. Since trains share the public Railroad network, we have to handle many conflicting demands. Increasing competition from Transportation alternatives as well as the politically motivated process of deregulation forces Railroad companies to reduce cost and resource utilization. In this situation, better decision tools are quite welcome. Here, we discuss models and corresponding methods for cost optimal train scheduling in real world Railroad networks.
