    Abstract:

    As service providers have started deploying SDN in their networks, traditional IP routers are gradually upgraded to SDN enabled switches. In other words, the network will have traditional IP routers and SDN switches coexisting, and it is called a hybrid SDN network. With such a network, we take advantage of SDN and propose an approach to guarantee Traffic reachability in the presence of any single link failure. By Redirecting Traffic on the failed link to SDN switches through pre-configured IP tunnels, the proposed approach is able to react to the failures very fast. With the help of coordination among SDN switches, we are also able to explore multiple backup paths for the failure recovery. This allows the proposed approach to avoid potential congestion in the post-recovery network by choosing proper backup paths. Simulation results show that our proposed scheme requires only a very few number of SDN switches in the hybrid SDN network to achieve fast recovery and guarantee 100% reachability from any single link failure. It also shows that the proposed approach is able to better load-balance the post-recovery network comparing to IP Fast Reroute and shortest path re-calculation.

    Abstract:

    The increasing popularization of social media explains the interest from, and its generalized incorporation in, informative media (Bacallao, 2010; García de Torres, 2010). These media explore the possibilities provided by these new horizontal communication platforms for reaching more users, for attracting and Redirecting Traffic and even for finding out more about readers¿ knowledge (Greer and Yan, 2010). The new norms for relations ¿ characterized by connectivity and participation options ¿ disrupt the conventional communication model and the bond the media had with the public and with sources. In the case of Twitter, this connection materializes as the relation that is created with the followers/following duality. The objective of this article is to present a study about the general-interest profiles that the Spanish digital newspapers manage on the microblogging platform. The analysis allows us to make a distribution map of the Spanish online press's network of established contacts (followers and following) in terms of volume. In a second phase, we go into detail about the kind of profiles the most followed Twitter account among those analyzed (El País) follows. The results show a clear trend towards a strategy based around circulation, since the platform allows for the creation of new distribution possibilities in intra and intergroup environments. In general, the smallest interest in accessing new nodes and strengthening the relationships can be seen in the smallest numbers of following registered. Research of the following profiles of El País confirms the pre-eminence of self-promotion. The newspaper makes its relations with external information sources public through lists.La creciente popularización de los social media explica el interés y su incorporación generalizada entre los medios informativos (Bacallao, 2010; García de Torres, 2010). Estos exploran las posibilidades que brindan estas nuevas plataformas de comunicación horizontal para llegar a más usuarios, atraer y redirigir el tráfico e incluso profundizar en el conocimiento de los lectores (Greer y Yan, 2010). Los nuevos estándares de relación, caracterizados por las opciones de conectividad y participación, trastocan el modelo convencional de comunicación y el vínculo que se mantenía con el público pero también con las fuentes de información. En el caso de Twitter este nexo se materializa en la relación que se crea tras el binomio followers/following. El objetivo de este artículo es presentar un estudio sobre los perfiles generalistas que gestionan en la plataforma de microblogging los diarios digitales españoles. El análisis permite realizar un mapa de distribución de la red de contactos establecida en términos de volumen (followers y following) por la prensa en línea española y, en una segunda fase, profundizar en el tipo de perfiles following de la cuenta más seguida en Twitter de entre las analizadas, la de El País. Los resultados muestran una clara tendencia hacia la estrategia de difusión, pues la plataforma permite abrir nuevas posibilidades de distribución en entornos intra- e intergrupales. El menor interés por acceder a nuevos nodos y consolidar relaciones se observa en el menor número de following registrado de manera general. Se confirma la preeminencia de la autopromoción en el estudio del perfil de following de El País. Aquests exploren les possibilitats que brinden aquestes noves plataformes de comunicació horitzontal per arribar a més usuaris, atraure i redirigir el trànsit i fins i tot aprofundir en el coneixement dels lectors (Greer i Yan, 2010). Els nous estàndards de relació, caracteritzats per les opcions de connectivitat i participació, trastoquen el model convencional de comunicació i el vincle que es mantenia amb el públic però també amb les fonts d'informació. En el cas de Twitter aquest nexe es materialitza en la relació que es crea darrere del binomi followers / following. L'objectiu d'aquest article és presentar un estudi sobre els perfils generalistes que gestionen en la plataforma de microblogging els diaris digitals espanyols. L'anàlisi permet realitzar un mapa de distribució de la xarxa de contactes establerta en termes de volum (followers i following) per la premsa en línia espanyola i, en una segona fase, aprofundir en el tipus de perfils following del compte més seguit a Twitter d'entre els analitzats, el d'El País.     Abstract:

    Algorithms for distributed coordination and control are increasingly being used in smart grid applications including peer-to-peer energy trading and sharing to improve reliability and efficiency of the power system. However, for realistic deployment of these algorithms, their designs should take into account the suboptimal conditions of the communication network, in particular the communication links that connect the energy trading entities in the energy network. This study proposes a distributed adaptive primal (DAP) routing algorithm to facilitate communication and coordination among proactive prosumers in an energy network over imperfect communication links. The proposed technique employs a multi-commodity flow optimization scheme in its formulation with the objective to minimize both the communication delay and loss of energy transactional messages due to suboptimal network conditions. Taking into account realistic constraints relating to network delay and communication link capacity between the peers, the DAP routing algorithm is used to evaluate network performance using various figures of merit such as probability of signal loss, message delay, congestion and different network topologies. Further, we address the link communication delay problem by Redirecting Traffic from congested links to less utilized ones. The results show that the proposed routing algorithm is robust to packet loss on the communication links with a 20% reduction in delay compared with hop-by-hop adaptive link state routing algorithm.
